Little Girls

I can’t stress this enough: STOP SEXUALIZING CHILDREN!! I’ve seen far too many movies where children under the age of 16 have been in sexual situations and made out out to be the ringleader of the whole show. Although I enjoyed the movie, I later realized the bigger picture. Movies such as Lolita and Pretty Baby have two female leads who are subject to sexualization and statutory rape of men and the scenes are set in a way that makes it seem like the girls wanted it. Children are in now way mentally or physically prepared for those activities.

These movies make Pedophilia seem natural, like nothing is wrong with the act of preying on young girls. It’s immoral and cannot be justified in any sense.

Innocent children should not be exposed to sexualization and grown men and women shouldn’t even think that that’s acceptable. It’s seen in more than movies. Hugh Hefner had two magazine pages of young girls, around 8-10 years old, partially or completely revealed. In no way should that have ever been printed, purchased, or socially accepted.

I feel as if i’m ranting more than getting my point across, but nevertheless, the sexualization of children is wrong but often done for cinematic and other entertainment purposes.

  1. I love that in everything you write, you work to challenge standards of society that many authors don’t even mention, fearful of judgment or attack. Reading this piece has me thinking about Hollywood, and how many directors and older actors take advantage of younger actors, who are just starting and don’t know how to get out of this sexualization. These children grow up thinking that sexualization is normal. I agree wholeheartedly with what you have to say in this piece. (P.S. – You should make a book or something with all of these pieces in it and sell it everywhere so people have no choice to read it and understand that some things just aren’t okay.)

  2. I agree with this!! I enjoy that you take an uncommon perspective on child actors. They are really sexualized, something that’s often ignored. I love this!

  3. YES YES A MILLION AND ONE TIMES YES!!! i think people start to get into the mindset that being in the public eye means that how people perceive you is free-for-all, which is completely wrong and super unfair to all celebrities, especially child actors. Foreign news sites have called milly bobby brown one of the sexiest actresses alive when she’s literally 13 YEARS OLD, there are 27-year-old grown women telling 14-year-old finn wolfhard to “call her in four years” and it’s all DISGUSTING. and it becomes worse and almost ignored with how pedophilic relationships are often portrayed in media, like how woody allen current project is a film about a teenage girl in a relationship with an older man when allen himself has been accused of child molestation. it’s sickening and upsetting and exploitative of these kids who are literally just KIDS. how these relationships and this treatment towards what is just plain pedophilia in hollywood has got to change

  4. PREACH AMAR! I fully support your view on this topic. I think the way you told your opinions is really good. I love the passion on this topic, I loved this!

  5. Dude, I don’t feel like this is a rant. You’re very clear about your point: stop sexualizing children, specifically young girls. Sure, you seem passionate, but with the topic you’re discussing that makes sense.
I’ve haven’t seen either of those movies so I can’t agree/disagree about what you say, but the movies should have never been made if they were going to sexualize a young girl.
