Thriller movies that go crazy (in a well-done way)

We’re just going to talk about movies that have given me crazy reactions. I don’t know if any of you watched these before, but just in case you haven’t; there may be some spoilers.

SIGHTLESS

I feel like I’ve talked about this movie before, but I’m still going to talk about this anyway.

This movie was devastating a bit but the way the characters developed was so manipulating to my sense of mind that I could not be content with the ending. Yes, the character is strong, but why did she have to be resilient in that way?  It’s just, the protagonist, Ellen had the whole life she knew taken away from her.  Then when she thought she found someone to give her world back to her in some kind of form, it turns out to be distorted. She couldn’t even see colors the same way anymore, and the way they just put the viewers into her perspective was so deep that even the colors she couldn’t see looked dull to me.  If that makes sense.  I can’t really just explain it to you without spoiling it, you would just have to watch it.  Like the pacing was great and I loved how we saw what was in her mind and not what was in reality.  Also, my sister obsessed over the shot design.

Anyway- The movie is about a violinist who was attacked and lost her sight.  She’s moved to this apartment by people she can’t see but can only hear.  Which is way important to this plot as she begins to start hearing some stuff that sounds paranormal.  So, with that, the twist left my jaw on the floor.

THE MIST

I mostly adore all of Stephen King’s works, so I was a little iffy about the movie when I very first read the summary of it.  It has giant bugs in the plot which we couldn’t see.  I think that it benefited the plot that we couldn’t see the bugs because it’s kind of amped up that mental distrust.  We were seeing the characters be tortured by a threat that they couldn’t even see all the way.  There were signs that the giant bugs were there, but since the movie was more philosophy driven it was like the bugs were just a domino factor.  It seemed Stephen King needed them as the starting domino to push the conflict between the characters together. I can’t explain but this movie really makes you ponder on the survival instincts of humanity.  Like, how far will we go to survive?  Also, a bonus is that the movie was purposely grainy so that it could have that old bedtime monster pizzazz.

Any who- The movie is a science fiction horror movie that mostly focuses on a father and son who’s trapped with a bunch of people in a store.  And all of these people have different views on how they can survive through the weird catastrophe.  The ending is insane.  If you get emotionally damaged really easily, I suggest you shouldn’t watch this movie.

THE MENU

This movie plot is as tasty as the food in it.   I adore this movie heavily.  I’ve watched this about six times because each time I was making a new family member watch it with me so I could see their reactions (which most of the time, replicated mine) and hear their thoughts.  I enjoyed the main protagonist’s background development here and while her personality was written a little flat it was okay because her actions were diverse to me, so it kind of made up for it.  The person she was with at this restaurant was spontaneous to me and I didn’t see his character arc coming, and he was just those characters that made such an impact on the plot that it made you look at things kind of differently.   The chef also was an 8/10 but that’s just because I didn’t jump at the things he did.  Another thing, the setting was so fun to analyze, well the whole movie was, but the setting added a little spice to the drama.

Any who – The movie is basically about this young couple who goes to this deserted island to eat at this exclusive restaurant where they encounter some issues and surprises.  Y’all this movie genre is Horror, Dark Comedy, and Thriller.  When I tell you I laughed because of how crazy this movie was, people should at least try this movie once.  Just saying in my opinion.

THE VANISHED

I watched this movie in about early 2020 when it first came out. It was about 2 months since quarantine had started and one of the main things, I was doing for entertainment was binging every thriller and psychological movie on Netflix. It was going slow for a minute, I didn’t really find anything that just caught my attention, until… My sister and I came across The Vanished.

This movie was gaslighting itself in a whole, you think you know the characters actions, what they plan to do, but no; you have no idea. I assumed this movie would just be about a regular suburban family who started having family issues with their marriage and raising their child, though now I wonder why I didn’t expect the darkest twist coming.  Also, the way the layers of this movie unravel were well written to me and the characters did stay in their roles, they just kind of evolved a little.

Anyyywayy – The Vanished, is supposed to be about a nice good ole family vacation with a mother, a father, a daughter, and even the dog, though of course nothing can go well in these kinds of movies.  Since nothing can go well, the film had to make the daughter go missing.                                                               And of course, the parents will need to go insane to find her.

That’s all, you all should go watch these movies if you haven’t yet.

My Favorite Albums: Dog Themed.

So for this week, I wanted to write more about music and albums. And I wanted to revisit the post I made week before last. I thought it would be neat to show you guys my favorite albums in themes of the covers. And this will start least to greatest in favor.

I’ll Be Okay – Sign Crushes Motorist

I don’t know where to even start. This album was introduced to me by Cooper, and I think its one of my favorites. The slow music, the soft vocals. I want to have this on vinyl so badly. This just seems like the perfect album to slowly drift away to as you fall asleep. If you’ve had bad day and you just need to be somewhere else for a moment, this album takes you there.
I really like the cover as well. Albums with Dog covers always have a special place in my heart, this one especially.

The Albatross – Foxing

I really like this album. I think it’s really unique. It combines instrumentals and vocals I’ve never seen before. The vocals themselves are especially unique. I’ve always been a fan for vocals that put everything in their work. The Lyrics are really heartbreaking in some areas too. I would highly recommend this album if your ever getting out of a nasty relationship.

Trick – Alex G

I’ve liked Alex G for a long time without even realizing it. I liked these songs but never really put the name to the songs. So When I found out who wrote them, I immediately went through Alex G’s albums race and treehouse. I knew about treehouse back in like… 2020 I think. Anyways the vocals in this our interesting, I don’t think I could put a label on them, but the instrumentals are really good. However, if your looking to get into Alex G, I would recommend his album “Race” first.

Twin Fantasy – Car Seat Headrest

I was introduced to this album recently by Erin, It quickly reached one of my top favorite albums. Technically the mascot is a dog so…. I’m counting it.
I really enjoy this album, the Lyrics, vocals, and instruments all come together to make this beautiful cacophony of music. I’ve been slowly going through Car Seat Headrest’s albums, And I’ve had a general liking for the most part. I think one or two of the songs are like 14 minutes, which I can find hard to pay attention to for long. However, I can still appreciate the hard work that goes into them.

Chariot – See Through Person

One of my favorite albums of all time. It’s a short 3 song album however, I love each and every song. “Change your name” Has been a long time favorite of mine. I don’t even remember how I came upon this album. I just remember it always kind of being there. The vocals are really heavy, and the instruments are really neat. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who likes rock.

Anyways, those are my favorite Dog Themed albums. Thanks for reading this far! I don’t know what I’m doing for next week’s post, but I’m thinking more themed albums like this one.

yes, the song is bad, no you can’t be transphobic.

So, for today’s blog I really wanted to talk about something that has been bugging me lately. And yes, I am aware that I am a little late to this whole thing, but I really have ben itching to talk about it so.

I do want to give a quick disclaimer though, a lot of the topics that I am about to touch on I cannot completely understand, ideas of being MTF, or even what it means to be a woman is something that I cannot really give too much of an insight on because, yk. But anyway, I digress.

Dylan Mulvaney on Conservative Backlash and Reclaiming Her Transition | Them

So, about a month ago a popular influencer named Dylan Mulvaney came out with a song called “Days of Girlhood” this song was to commemorate her two-year anniversary of when she came out as trans and when she began to document her journey through her transition digitally. The song has had a relatively negative view by most, when it comes to my personal experience with it, when it comes to the music itself, it isn’t exactly my style, and while a lot of people agree, this isn’t the issue. Instead of critiquing the song itself, hundreds of people online have used this song as an excuse to spread misinformed and transphobic hate speech.

The largest percentage of people who are making these videos and supplying hateful comments such as these are what most people have deemed as “TERFS”

If some of you aren’t familiar with this term I will explain, terf is an acronym for “trans exclusive radical feminist” this to be put simply is someone who agrees with most feminist ideologies but does not acknowledge trans women to be actual women. The main argument that they provide is that Dylan gives the song a marginalized “dumb girl” side that most women fight hard against, however this is not really the case, from my experience listening I don’t think that in any way does she say that this is what girlhood is, instead all she is doing is providing her individual experience. (She also gives some really valuable insight on the trans experience in her song so for that alone I recommend that you check it out.)

Dylan contributed a song deemed just another “white girl song” WHICH IS COMPLETELY FINE. For the most part, I don’t even really like the song but to use it as an excuse to try to say that all it does is prove that “Dylan isn’t a real girl” or “what she is doing is harming other women” is unacceptable. The way you orientate yourself with the music you choose to create is never an issue unless it causes pain to others, there have been so many songs that have been similar to what Dylan has made, songs such as “I’m just a girl” by Gwen Stefani or “Girls just want to have fun” by Cyndi Lauper have proven to be staples in millions’ playlists and music tastes, they were created and no one had a problem with them, but the moment a trans woman makes one it is as if suddenly they become harmful. Even though I have a lot more to say about the situation I will leave it at this final statement: Just because a song doesn’t sound good doesn’t mean that gives you an excuse to be transphobic.

Here are a couple of people who put in some really good opinions if you want to check them out. Also, if you want to stream the song here is the link, Days of Girlhood – Single by Dylan Mulvaney | Spotify

Movies I’m Convinced only I’ve Seen

There are a couple movies/shows out there that I’m convinced only I’ve watched. For example (here comes the list):

Kubo and the Two Strings

I feel like no one has seen this. It came out in 2016 and I watched it in either 2018 or 2019. My brother was like “Hey Georgia, wanna watch a movie about two strings?” I was so confused. Anyway, it was a good movie.

Wonder Pets

Again, I’m convinced no one has seen this. I never watched it on any streaming service but I did go to the Long Beach public library and check out a DVD copy of like five of the episodes. “The phone. The phone is ringing. There’s an animal in trouble. There’s an animal in trouble.”

Oswald

I swear to god I’ve brought up this show so many times and no one has heard of it. I had a couple of the episodes on DVD when I was younger and I’m pretty sure I still have it. One of the episodes involved Oswald putting too many popcorn seeds in the popcorn popper thingy and then too much soap in the pool outside and he went to go up the stairs to get popcorn but the popcorn was like flooding down the stairs and then bubbles from the pool were like flooding up the stairs and he got somehow trapped on the stairs. I remember being like five and seeing that and being like, “why can’t he just walk through the bubbles?”

Pingu

Ok I feel like people have probably seen this one considering it was a little bit popular on social media a while ago. This was like my favorite show as a kid. That and Garfield.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

Ok I have no idea if people have heard of Wallace and Gromit but if you haven’t, you are uncultured and should be locked up (in my opinion). I had this, again, on DVD and both my brother and I watched it multiple times. I remember when we got it I was like 3 so my brother was 6. I was talking with him about this episode a couple months ago and he told me it scared him and after watching this show he wouldn’t go near rabbits again. I thought that was really funny considering I was three years younger than him when we both saw it and I wasn’t scared. Pretty much all of the Wallace and Gromit series was my entire childhood.

The Great Mouse Detective

THIS WAS AMAZING YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT. I remember the scene where the dad gets kidnapped scared me and so did the bat. That bat really FREAKED me out.

Garfield and Friends

I forking loved this series. 10/10 definitely my favorite repeat series. That and the original seasons of The Garfield Show.

Dexter’s Laboratory

I feel like people might have seen this one but I’ve never heard people talk about it. Like ever.

The Yogi Bear Shoe (1961)

I haven’t ever heard anyone talk about this show. I lived for this series when I was like three. The sound Yogi made when he ate a sandwich always made me want a sandwich. Now I want a sandwich.

Wondering

My first thought for this post was to write about the experience of taking a nap on a damp picnic table.

My second thought for this post was, “Is that enough?”

My third thought for this post was everything cluttered inside my brain.

As I sit at this keyboard, my skull feels like a bog of allergies and stuffiness, yet my heart beats with the urge to create so fiercely that I feel my chest melting. My fingers feel somewhat electric at the bone, and I want to write everything. I do not yearn for coherence. I want to feel the worn plastic of the keyboard bend beneath my fingertips as I write everything without a care. I want to break into sprawling prose about the raindrops pattering onto concrete after a storm, I want to write about the moments of bliss on the picnic table as I heard the world around me, I want to write the orange and textured beat that is playing in the background, I want to write map ideas for a project, I want to write- It would all jump from one topic to the next, thoughts blending together in impulsive dialogue and handmade quotes. It would mention a character’s unamused glare in a spiral of nature descriptors, observing the jumbled vines of words for one reason or another. It would describe how it feels to flex your hands above your head, with the joints stretching and skin pressing into muscles, before detailing the wooden window blinds in front of me and how they might taste. It would go on about the feeling of wiping up dust on the pad of your thumb, then break down into bullet points on worldbuilding and gods. It would wonder if my mind sounds as enthralling as I think it to be, or if I am living in the emotion of writing  too much, and go on a whole page spiel on the undermining of emotions. It would branch into the feeling of a warm embrace through the eyes of another being, then the eyes of a moth begging for the attention of a lantern. It would bubble up with sci fi horror, as wishing for the lantern’s attention is the equivalent of knocking on death’s door, then simmer down as I sternly think about frigidness seeping through the moths exoskeleton. It would leave me with a page of incoordination. It would leave me with a page I would love dearly. Despite it all, it would leave me a page that would make me wonder:

“Is that enough?”

Short Story: Part 1.

Finely was a joyful boy, especially when he was younger, he’d find himself running through the woods behind his house for hours on end playing the role of whatever game he had made up that day. Even if no one wanted to play with him it was alright his imagination was more than enough to keep him entertained. Until he met Delilah, he found here one day all by her lonesome just picking flowers and quietly humming a little song to herself, not one he could recognize immediately but it sounded so familiar. He went up to her and tried to introduce himself, the best way a ten-year-old boy knew how. They quickly became friends; Delilah didn’t talk much but that wasn’t a problem for Finely he could talk in circles and Delilah was always willing to listen. When Delilah would speak her voice would demand attention, it wasn’t exactly loud or commanding but he found it so entrancing, she spoke like a song, and he couldn’t help but listen.

As they got older, he began seeing her less and less, until one day when he was fourteen, he went out to find her, but she was nowhere to be found, he yelled her name till his voice was hoarse, but he got no answer. He repeated this cycle for almost 4 months before he gave up, he couldn’t tell his parents about because they didn’t know about Delilah in fact no one did, it was one of their “friendship rules”, that he couldn’t tell anyone about her, they were eleven at the time and sure he was curious about why but he didn’t harp on it too much, as time passed he did get more curious about Delilah, where she lived, where her parents were, what school did she go to? For a while after her disappearance, he blamed himself, maybe he scared her, made her uncomfortable, maybe he was the reason she ran away.

It took him a while, but time moves on, soon he started high school, and then college and even though he’d never forget about her she took up less and less space in mind. He had decided to honor that friendship and keep her a secret long after she disappeared, something he often felt bad for in case something happened, and she needed help. But he zipped his lips shut and let her become a memory.

It wasn’t until he was nearly 30, that she decided to reappear in his life, in a very anticlimactic way at that, he just ran into her at the local bar in his town. It had been a while since they’d last seen each other, so at first, he wasn’t sure it was actually there, but he couldn’t ignore the familiarity that filled the air around him once he saw her, he had to be sure. “Delilah?”, he said quite loudly, when she turned her head to look in his direction her eyes filled with emotion, ones that Finley couldn’t quite decipher. A smile then lit up her face as she ran toward him and engulfed him in a hug, “Oh my goodness, Fin!”, she exclaimed. Finley could feel himself getting emotional, as he gripped her tight, he felt like a kid again, he wasn’t aware that he missed her embrace this much. It was then that he realized he had never made another friend like that, he guessed that after being abandoned the way he had he put up his guard and hadn’t allowed himself to get close with anyone since.

Her embrace felt healing, he had so many questions for her but he didn’t want to potentially care her off or seem nosey, so he settled for one, “How have you been?”, he asked. She hesitated for a moment, “Good, What about you?”. He gave her an update which admittedly wasn’t much, single, accountant, and no children.  For her it was pretty much the same except she works as a librarian. They spent a while catching up about life since they “drifted apart”, as she phrased it which upset Finley, but he bit his tongue. They decided to call it a night as it became late and figured they could meet for coffee to try and rekindle their friendship.

As Finley got ready for bed that night, Delilah was all he could think about questions and theories, swarming around in his head it was impossible to sleep. How could he be her friend again?

Blog 4/11/24

Since everyone seemed to like Cordelia and Atlas. I thought that I could write more about them, so this is just so bits of their story that I started writing some time ago.

Sitting in a small clearing of a forest is a house that seems to almost blend in. The house was surrounded by a small brown fence. There were two large trees behind the house with a small hammock between them with a small pool. A silhouette walks out of the trees and goes towards the house. When the figure comes into the moon light they are reveled to be a tall man with blond hair with blue eyes that shine in the moonlight. He is wearing an all-black suit. When he gets to the door of the house three more people come out of the trees two other men and a lady.

“Sir, are you sure it’s safe being this close to where ‘The Witch’ lives?” The women asked the blond man. The other two men look around it seems like a regular house in the middle of the forest, but The Witch is a very sneaking person who knows what kind of of wards she may have around the house. “My informant said she lived here; I’ll knock on the door you stay and watch my back.” The blond man told them. They nodded at him, and the two men pulled out guns of different sizes while the woman grabbed the bow off her back and jumped to one of the closest trees. The blond man Knocked on the door and a little boy around the age of six or seven. The boy stared at the three adults, and they stared back. Why was a child here? They weren’t told that a child was living here.

The boy was about to close the door when the adults didn’t say anything. “Wait!” The blond man called out “W-who are you? Are your parents’ home?” He didn’t understand why a child was there in what is supposed to be the evilest person’s house. The boy just stared at them. It made them nervous it felt like he was sizing them up trying to see who he could take down first. “Leo, baby where are you?” A voice called out from the house. The blond man tensed when the voice got closer to the door. “Baby, what are you doing at the door.” A woman came out the door a picked up the little boy. The boy started moving his hands in different motions at the woman. “Visitors? Now who would be crazy to come all the way.” She looks up for the child and came face to face with the blond man and his group.

The blonde man blinked his eyes a couple times “Cordelia Levitan we need to talk to you.” He told her. Cordelia rolled her eyes and turned away from them but left the door open.

Well, that’s all I have today I hope y’all enjoyed that story I am writing more but for right now this is all I have plz tell me what y’all thinks so I can change things that might not fit.

Confusion (Question Mark)

                                                            Hello everyone!

First, I would like to give a brief question introduction:

Some of us look behind the shower curtain for killers every time we do something in the restroom.

So, for those who do, my question is: What are you going to do if you find someone behind them?

Any who!  While you ponder about that I would like to show and review some of my favorite horror stories that leave me with questions.

After I tell you about the catch; these aren’t regular horror stories.  They’re two sentences.

*Note* I don’t own any of these, and most of their authors are unknown.  They mostly come from Reddit and google.

# 1 “They delivered the mannequins in bubble wrap.  From the main room I begin to hear popping.”

This one is interesting because of the context that’s left out (Duh), but I mean it’s like we don’t know if it’s night or day.  We don’t know if this person is alone or what.  They could be listening to their coworkers unpacking the creepy mannequins.  Who’s to say that they’re haunted?  Or to say that they are real mannequins?  This is why I like this one because it’s only scary or creepy depending on the imagination.  If you think outside the box, you may say that one of them just fell. Or maybe the wrapping is just uncurling itself because we don’t know how they wrapped them.  It’s interesting to think about.

# 2 “After so many years living alone in this large house I came to a startling revelation.  In this time, I had closed far more doors than I had opened.”

Are we talking metaphorical doors like opportunities?  Or are we thinking of actual doors?  We don’t know, so this one to me was kind of neutral.  Like, I know we can hypothesize that maybe there’s a ghost or something in the house or someone living in the attic.   But, then there’s the people across the room that would say, what if the person just forgot to close the doors?  Or maybe the doors have just been open since they bought the house and they’re just now shutting them?  Food for thought right.  Also, I think the narrator themself is fishy, because why are you living alone like that in a big house.  Do you have a family?  Did you have a family? What happened to them if you did?  All these questions that I want to answer.  So, I guess that kind of appeals to the spooky sense.

# 3 “My son told me that his reflection was threatening to replace him.   I thought he was imagining things, until I saw my right-handed son write using his left hand.”

This one right here is lowkey crazy.  Especially since we got some context, and we can clearly guess what happened.  I’m just saying, what are you supposed to do after that?   Are you supposed to keep going with your everyday routine?   Also, I wonder how long has he been writing with his left hand, like when did this switch happen?  Because if she doesn’t see him write everyday then she could’ve been living with an impostor for a good ole minute.

Answering the question of what I would do though; I honestly would’ve just packed my bags and left. The person didn’t say how old their son was, so if they’re like 18 and over, I would’ve skedaddled.  Don’t worry though, it would’ve been after I tried to find some more evidence about the kid.   But if it turns out to be an impostor, he will have to watch that door close behind me.

# 4   The driver wasn’t very chatty, so I checked my phone.

“Hey it’s your Uber, I’m outside.”

Dun Dunn DUN!  Or however that dramatic music goes. You know what I mean. This one was creepier because it’s modern and realistic.  It’s not something supernatural.  This could actually happen to someone which is chaotic.  Because you usually don’t know what your Uber driver looks like, you really only know their name like a door dasher but that’s about it.  So, at that point who’s been waiting for you?  Like are they stalking outside your house?  Or did you just decide to get in the car with a random person who decided they’ll kidnap random people.  So many questions.   I’m just saying, as soon as I see that message and the doors are unlocked, I’m dropping and rolling onto the road.  End of discussion.

A bonus:  Wakes up confused.

                         “Pencils down.”

Best one yet my dudes.

Anyway, you all should comment on your answer to the question from the beginning.

Or answer this question, take your pick.

If you have to go against a slasher, who are you facing?

Freddy Kruger    Norman Bates    Ghostface

The New Movie Monkey Man

I really didn’t have much of a plan when it came to this weeks blog. Even though we had so much time to do so. Anyways, as a last minute idea, I wanted to share my opinion on the new movie Monkey Man.

First off, Dev Patel is basically running this whole operation. He is the director, star, co-writer, and a few other things. I think his acting really made the movie.
He was also the star is Slum dog millionaire, so he has had some experience in acting. However, this is the first movie he’s ever directed. And for a first movie, it’s incredible.

A lot of people are calling this a rip-off of John Wick. But honestly, I feel like this story far surpasses John Wick. That might be an unpopular opinion, but I stand by it. In John Wick, the whole movie is about revenge over a dog.  I get it, they needed an inciting force, but I really don’t think an Ex-assassin would go to war with a bunch of criminals over a dog.

But the plot of Monkey man is WAY more believable. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but the inciting force is very believable, and it deals with more than just personal grudge and hate. Its revenge, heritage, and other things. Also, I think the budget for this movie was less than 20 million, which is a lot of money, but for a theatrically released movie that’s pretty low.

Action wise, there were many amazing stunts. I’d say equal to if not better than those of John Wick. The choreography in the fight scenes was outstanding. the tools he would use to fight were just as interesting too.  They used a lot of different types of camera angels. Some got a little repetitive. Like, they used the Dutch angle for 5 shots without a break, but they were very diverse in the camera angels overall.

So I Highly recommend this film if your into action movies. I hope I’ll be able to see more of Dev Patels films in the future. I think he has promising talent and can be a great director if he’s given the chance.
If you haven’t seen Slumdog millionaire, I would also recommend checking that movie out as well. I don’t think it’s as good as Monkey man, but it can also be an entertaining watch.

So In conclusion….

Monkey Man > John Wick

Children’s books I remember reading

(and you probably do too)

AMELIA BEDELIA

I really hope you know Amelia Bedelia. My roommate didn’t and I was very sad. Amelia Bedelia is connotative with gullibility, upon being left in a house with a list of expressions and idioms she takes them all to be literal: she cuts up the towels when she hears “change them [out]”, ruins their furniture and the only reason she doesn’t get fired that day is she makes a delicious lemon meringue pie. I tried not to sound mocking because I truly do love this book, Amelia Bedelia is so witty and goofy.

And then of course came what I’d call “holiday specials” e.g. Merry Christmas, Amelia Bedelia; Amelia Bedelia Goes Camping, etc. etc. It’s just a trend of the medium, you’ve noticed, once people love “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” they’ll love “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” but what I find interesting is Amelia Bedelia didn’t just get picture books she also got chapter books.

An entire franchise of them!

These were published decades after the original book was released—like the Amelia Bedelia books were being published in the 60s, the one I had as a kid was written in 2013.

Also, I love this artstyle, look at her little outfit

(side note I was looking up more books for this blog and let me just say: Harry Potter is NOT a picture book.)

KNUFFLE BUNNY: A CAUTIONARY TALE

This one is for ME, okay? and it’s the only non-serialized one on this list. This little girl leaves her stuffed animal at the laundromat and she can’t talk yet so all she can do is babble the words closest to the sounds “Knuffle Bunny.” 🙁

It’s based on the writer’s real life family and did you know this was written by the guy who’s also written, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus?” I’m so upset no one remembers Knuffle Bunny. Let’s move on.

IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE

What I brought it up and you expected me not to use it? Yeah, you’ve read it I bet. I believe it FAR greater than either of the other ones on this list but have you actually gone back? Because wow, it is cozy. Coziest book alive, as a seven year old shares some food with a mouse who trashes his house (but the book doesn’t rhyme?) Akin to most things on this list, there were obviously more books after it and you know what, I’ll go back on my word. Despite how like. Honestly sweet the original is, I remember the variations more fondly.

If You Give a Cat a Cupcake? If You Take a Mouse to the Movies?

If You Take a Mouse to School?

I’m sorry, If You Take A Mouse to School beats out the original by a MILE, no criticism accepted (I do not remember this book, so this could all be hearsay.)

PETE THE CAT

I loved this cat as a kid and I love the beat his little read-alouds were paired with. Do you remember read-alouds? Those went crazy. This cat went along with everything, his shoes are white, now they’re red, what does he say?

“I love my red shoes,

I love my red shoes,

I love my red shoes.”

Never bothered, never sad, just the coolest cat around. 10/10 Cat I don’t remember much of him but he took down the house in a single picture book.

… hey you know those “I am [historical figure]” books? They made one for ruth bater ginsberg
