Yes, you read the title right. The Get-Along t-shirt. You may be wondering, “What on earth is a Get-Along t-shirt” or you may be thinking “omg omg omg I had one of those!!!!” Well for those of you who already know what it is or had one growing up, sit back and enjoy the ride. For those of you who think I’m insane, (I probably am) let me explain.
Growing up, my brother and I were always arguing and getting into fights. These fights were usually physical fights. While my brother was big and buff, I was (as my dad likes to call me) a little shrimp. My brother was almost always about 12 inches taller than me so if he even breathed on me I would fall over. I quickly learned about this and took this to my advantage. If he even so much as touched me, I would start screaming and crying just to make sure he would get in trouble. I was a nightmare of a younger sister. Basically I would go up to my brother, screaming and kicking him and he couldn’t do anything about it or else he would get in trouble. (And I always wondered why he hated me.)
I remember one year for Christmas my brother and I got an xbox 360 to share and we were both so excited. The thing is, on top of that, I also got an iPad mini and my brother didn’t. My brother didn’t think this was fair. Our parents said this was because he was most likely always going to be using the xbox and I was never going to get a chance to use it (which turned out to be true) but he didn’t like that answer.
After Christmas was over and the Xbox was set up, my brother was stuck to it like glue. He would never let me have a turn. There were games which were split screen but he wouldn’t let me play with him as he claimed “It makes the game harder to play and you’re bad at the game.” Years later I’ve found out he was right about the game making it harder when it’s on split screen mode but he could have set it to east mode.
After getting us an xbox and iPad to distract ourselves from each other didn’t work, my mom resorted to other measures. My brother and I had been in the kitchen arguing about the xbox, yet again. Our mom had had enough and went upstairs to our dads wardrobe and got one of his shirts and brought it back downstairs and made both of us get in it. She called it the get along T-shirt. My brother hated the idea while I thought it was the funniest thing ever. I had to stand on my toes and on a stool just to peek my eyes out of the neck of the shirt while my brother stood there wearing it normally.
When all else fails, clothing might just work. And remember kids, don’t drive you mother insane like I did to mine.
ALIENS! A icon of my brainrot; I absolutely adore aliens. While I do believe aliens exist somewhere out in the cosmos, I don’t believe in any alien conspiracy theories (nor do I want to hear about them.) The aliens I’m interested in are the ones of fiction.
I love, love, love, creating my own species and reading the lore of what others have made. From everything I’ve seen, alien creation has practically no boundaries. Do you want to create an alien that doesn’t incorporate science, or even breaks science? You can do that! The universe is endless- who knows what kind of materials are out there, and what they can do? You want an alien that is built off of science? Also great! That’s absolutely amazing! You want an alien that’s humanoid? Despite what others say, that’s also totally possible! Convergent evolution is already a thing on earth itself! You want an alien that looks other worldly? GO FOR IT! You can make aliens that live in the sea, underground, in the sky, in deadly forests, in hot lava, space itself, and more. Your imagination can run rampant, and you should let it! There’s tons of theories and ideas you can use as well. Life has evolved to be small, so what if a sentient lifeform evolved to be small? What would microscopic societies look like? Alien lifeforms could be made out of some new substance that doesn’t appear alive to humans. What could arise from encountering a species like that? You also don’t need to stick to ‘bad’ aliens. Aliens can be anything! Good, bad, neutral, whatever! You can even add the societal complexity humanity has to them! I, personally, really love aliens that are just as excited to discover humanity as humanity is to discover them. Positive interactions! My favorite book of all time, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, has my favorite depiction of aliens ever. Man, I love that book.
We’ve only scratched the surface of alien creation, though. When you build aliens, you can start with a completely blank canvas. Its up to you to decide what their planet looks like, what lives on that planet, the properties of that planet, how it effects the aliens, and vice versa. You can write history from the first evolution all the way to the space age. You get to create an entirely new culture, society, language, religion, and more. Think about how your aliens properties might change how they live! If they’re hyper-intelligent, what would their school systems look like? Would they hold knowledge over strength, strength over knowledge, or maybe something else? If nature is a part of a major religion, would your aliens be more hesitant to destroy it? What are the beauty standards? Are there even beauty standards? A fun exercise for this is to take human customs and reverse them. What if having eye contact is rude? What if houseguests are supposed to cook dinner instead of the host? What if you’re supposed to be loud instead of quiet?
…Okay, this is probably too many questions. I’ll ask one last question, and its very important. The question is: Why? Its fun making all of these concepts, but its always good to have a reason for why your aliens are the way they are. If you have a concept you really like but can’t find an answer to “Why,” don’t be afraid to use that concept for another alien species! I personally like to put all my species in the same universe. Here are some final parting tips for creating aliens, but you can do anything!
Research different kinds of planets. Gas giants, tidally locked planets, etc.
Research how the moon and sun effect planets, along with how their distances, sizes, and quantities might change things.
Look at pictures of deep sea creatures and bugs. If aliens like that aren’t your vibe, go look at pictures of random animals that interest you!
Research adaptations for different climates.
Think about mundane things you do and think about how other creatures might do it. (Making beds, cooking, playing instruments, etc.)
I want to start this blog off by saying that this is not my original idea I stole this from Chanel (with their permission).
1. Appletree- Erykah Badu
I interpret this song to be about the Badu’s creativity and her uniqueness and how she’s not ashamed of it. She also mentions her “pickiness” in terms of her friends.
I really like this song because of how unabashedly proud of her differences.
Favorite lyrics: “I work at pleasing me cause I can’t please you.”
2. Ready, Set, Don’t Go-Billy Ray Cyrus
I first heard this song in an episode of Hannah Montana. Billy plays this song accompanied by a slideshow of baby pictures for Miley in an attempt of explaining his hesitation about her taking a flight by herself for the first time before he gives her permission to go.
This song made me cry the first time I heard it and almost every time since. It really just tugs on the heartstrings the love for his daughter just gets me. There’s really nothing else to say besides it’s such a heartfelt beautiful song.
Favorite lyric: “She said things are fallin’ in place. Feels like they’re fallin apart.”
3. Take a Break.-Phillipa Soo, Anthony Ramos, Lin Manuel Miranda and Renee Elise Goldsberry from the Hamilton Musical.
This song in summary entails Eliza and Angelica begging Alexander to go on vacation with them and taking a break from work. But we also get glimpses of the underlying feelings between Angelica and Alexander.
I like this song not only because it beautiful sung but also beautifully written and I feel like it pushes the story and sets the story up for the next song.
Favorite Lyric: “One stroke and you’ve consumed my waking days.”
4. Drama Club- Melanie Martinez.
In this song Melanie (Well her character Crybaby) expresses distain for the behavior of assumingly her classmates and teachers and the facade they paint about themselves. I interpret the meaning of the song outside of the album/movie to be about the current state of our society and it’s sensitivity around certain issues.
I enjoy this song and the way Melanie is going about talking about the issues I believe the song is about instead of making the topic the sensitivity around the subject of ridicule she puts the sensitivity it’s self in question.
Favorite Lyric: “You’re faking all your pain yet you’re bleeding on a stage.”
5. Old Ways-Demi Lovato
I interpret this song to be Demi Lovato discussing her history of substance abuse and disavowing the accusations that she’d someday go back to it/relapse.
I love this song though it hasn’t exactly aged well I still think of it as almost an anthem for anybody who’s struggled with an addiction of some sort.
Favorite Lyric: “Black into gold, who knew it’d be so bright without the blindfold.”
The Eriksen family is what most people would call ‘old money’. They have been a guard family for generations since the family was created. The Eriksen family first originated in Scandinavian, but they ended up moving to Srario 4,000 years ago. They were there when the town first settled there. The Patriarch of this family was Biorn Eriksen, during his time he was the most powerful Mystic/Viking and brought a lot of glory to his family and village.
They moved to Srario because a couple of Mundanes came too close to the village and started damaging their resources. They became a guard family for the other three families when one of the children from the Fernandez family was being chased by some golems when they got too close to a dark part of the forest. On this day the family is still a guard family, but the current head is the wife of the late Jacky Robbert who has passed away after an incident involving the youngest child of the Tassi family. He was put on “trial” by the current head and he was sent out of town permanently.
Now with Ingrid Eriksen-Robbert as the Matriarch of the family. The mistakes Jacky made and even the memories of him are being forgotten. Even the twins Magin and Freya don’t remember much about him. Magin and Freya are seventeen-year-old twins with Magin being older by ten minutes born to Ingrid and Jacky Eriksen-Robbert. Currently Magin is being trained to be the next head of the family.
Freya is training to be the wife and/or Assistant for one of the other three families. Unlike the other families there isn’t a lot of pressure on them but it’s still a lot for young kids. While the kids of the other families have to take over whatever business their families have plus taking over the care of the town. All Magin will have to do is make sure the next heads of the families have the protection that they need. Meanwhile Freya’s only jobs are to either get married to someone from the big three families, or someone very respected in the town and still be the assistant to one of the families.
And while all the children understand that they have this responsibility and must do what they’re told by their parents, even if it disrupts their own happiness. This is kind of why the twins are really glad that they are best friends with Tassi’s youngest child. Some people think that they use her to get out of certain things involving family rules all the children have to follow in their life.
Here’s the thing, Halloween is coming up, and usually around this month I talk about things that are creepy and scary, and downright soul screeching. That’s what I would start writing about; but since my Blog is mostly based on that theme, I wanted to try something different. I dug so deep into my memories to find anything that I watched that didn’t include Drama, Horror, Thriller and wasn’t an animation. Couldn’t find anything. Seriously, I assure you I watch happy stuff, but my happy stuff is reruns of SpongeBob and Disney movies, and anything that is funny, is mystery and comedy. It was really tough, so I just decided to stick to what I love writing about because why wouldn’t I? This post is ranking books that I’ve read during October (I remember the exact month because I went on a Chiller Marathon during October my 7th grade year with a friend. It was a happy time) and have been my favorites.
# 7Ghost Of Graylock
When I very first started reading this book, I thought I knew what was going to happen. It started off a little slow; but soon the characters went into Psychiatric Hospital, I was set. The plot twist was golden. I enjoyed reading this surrounded by the warm heater in the darkness of my home as I listened to the rain trickling on my window. I really appreciated the complexity of it. It’s also a great starter for pre-teens who wants to read more advanced books.
# 6 Asylum
This book right here put me through something. It’s the first book out of a series and it’s a phycological thriller. If you don’t mind your brain while you’re dreaming, you will enjoy this book. I read all four books of the series, but I regretted it afterwards. The one will do, doesn’t matter if you don’t find certain answers. Trust me.
# 5 WELCOME To The Dark House
I never knew how scary mirrors could be until I read this book. It was really fascinating as the readers get to see everyone’s back stories. Also, this book approaches the topics of Phobias and how it impacts everyone’s daily lives. This book was actually the book that made me write about fears as I researched more about it.
# 4 Going Dark
I adored this book. It wasa fast pace read, finished it in 3 days. It’s a chef kiss because the multi-views were really well written in my opinion. I also loved the social media format of the book. It was also a great way to show rounded character development. I loved this book so much. I didn’t rate the others, but it was an 8/10.
# 3 Most Wanted
This book just brought back a ton of nostalgia from the times I had to read it to gain A.R. points. The book is still one of my favorite R.L. Stines’s and it’s a delight to read. Even while the book makes your finger ache and your skin crawl. I loved the experience of reading it for the first time.
# 2 How to Survive Your Murder
When it comes to this book; I’m just speechless. The whole time of the book is during Halloween. The characters are relatable and funny; and it uses Pop Culture a lot but not excessively. It has all the components, it has true crime, comedy, slasher, Thriller, and suspense. It’s a second chance book and the bonus for me is that it’s written like a great R.L. Stine Fear Street book. It’s just those types of books that you can read like you’re watching a movie. Just fantastic.
# 1 Killer’s Kiss
This book here took me on a road trip. I was in for so many twists and turns. I never knew what to expect. It’s number 1 on my lists because it was a book that also had a lot of romance which I don’t normally read, and it mixed well with the Mystery part. So, for that it gets a number one spot. Highly recommend it if you’re in a reading slump and want something shocking to read. It’s great.
Thanks for reading about my October books. Good day.
FULL CREDIT goes to Channel Hand for the idea of this post. I read her post last week and I really liked it, so I wanted to make one similar.
So, my favorite songs on my playlist. This was a hard topic because I have over 5h 58m of time on this playlist, with over 200 songs. So, it was hard choosing only a few. But starting from the least favorite to the most favorite here they are.
So, while going through my playlist, I found over thirty songs that I love. It hurt, but I didn’t want to make this post an hour long to read, so I’ve regrettably narrowed it down to about 8 out of 30 songs. I apologize ahead of time for how long this post might take.
(P.S. I’ve left out Origami Angel in this list because They would dominate.)
Starting with #8: “DNA Scam” “Fail Better, Heal Faster”
DNA Scam was released Aug 31st, 2017. I’ve had it in my playlist sense early 2020. I don’t know much about the band, and I don’t have a special connection to them or anything. But I really like the instruments in this song. I Find the Drums especially good. The Lyrics are also very interesting.
I think I could say that my taste in music could be defined in this song. The Indie-Rock feel. The sound of the guitar, drums, vocals, everything about this song screams, Indie-Rock. And for those that don’t know, Indie-Rock is basically Just a Rock band that isn’t widely known. And I really like the lyrics in Indie-Rock because they’re always meaning full. They write about experiences or events, or people. Or something as simple as Blueberry Pancakes.
Next in Line is #7 is “At Doom’s Gate” “Andrey Avkhimovich”
This one is interesting because, it’s from a popular game called “DOOM 64x”. There are no lyrics it’s just instrumental metal. A while back I got into a loop with this song, and I listened to it for my first two or three weeks here at MSA. I’m a big fan of the DOOM games. The music is always intense too. It’s pretty much all “Final Boss” music.
“At DOOM’S Gate”, Released Aug 31st, 1997
Coming up next as #6 is “Blueberry Pancakes” by “The Feelers”.
“Blueberry Pancakes” by “The Feelers” Feb 4th, 2021
This song is pretty interesting. It’s a little higher on the list because I really enjoy the Instruments in this song. Not to mention that the album cover is really cool. The Vocalist has a really cool voice, aswell. This song is sort of crude if you listen to the lyrics, but other than that it’s really good. The lyrics are interesting to say the least. I won’t spend too much time on this one because I’ve got a lot of songs to get through.
The next song #5 “Cytoplasm” by “The Doozers”.
This song was really good, it came out in Jan 12th, 2019. The thing I like most about this song is the guitar. The Vocalist has a nice voice, Aswell. The lyrics are decent Aswell. I added this song to my playlist back in 2020 I think, so I’ve been listening to it for a while now. The cover is also sort of funny. I’m not very familiar with the band though. I think this is the only song I’ve heard from the Doozers.
“Cytoplasm” by “The Doozers”, released Jan 11th, 2019.
This song is really good, it came out in Jan 12th, 2019. The thing I like most about this song is the guitar. The Vocalist has a nice voice, and the lyrics are decent as well. now. The cover is also sort of funny. I’m not very familiar with the band though.
The Next song being #4 is “Mystery Girl” “Housecall.”
“Mystery Girl” by “Housecall”, released July 26th, 2018.
I really enjoy this song every time it comes on. I feel like I’m saying this for every song on this list, but the instruments and vocals are really impressive. For most indie-rock songs I’d say that drums are a very important part. In this song, the drums are faint but there. The bass is fairly noticeable, but I think it relies heavily on the guitar and vocalist. And that’s not a problem because they do it so well. Romantic Indie-rock songs are the best, because they always (or most of the time) come from the heart. They’re always meaningful. And I like to imagine who the artist wrote the song for.
Next in line as #3 “2010″ by “The Keystones”
“2010” by “The Keystones” Released June 1st, 2019.
The Keystones are an interesting band. I’ve listened to a few of their songs, and I want to become more familiar with them, but this is one of my favorites. I’m not a good guitarist, I’m quite the opposite, but this song inspired a little thing I came up with on my electric guitar. I’ve had this song on my playlist for at least two years, I think. And that’s why it places 3rd on my list. I think that the album cover seems funny, it looks like a Polaroid, and I think that was supposed to emphasize the “2010” feeling. But this song is so high on the list because of its guitar and drums. In my opinion, I think Guitar, Drums, and Bass, are the three elements that make up an Indie-Rock band. And each of those elements are in this song. The drums are amazing. The Vocalist in this is also really good.
Two more to go. Coming up as #2 “Punk Tactics” by “Joey Valence & Brae”
“Punk Tactics” by “Joey Valence & Brae
I really like “Punk Tactics” for a number of reasons. Mainly because of the vocals, the lyrics are interesting, but the way the lyrics are expressed are really impressive. The tune is pretty good. My favorite part of the song is around 1:50-2:05. Again, I’m not very familiar with many of their other songs, but this one is really good, and I recommend checking it out.
And finally, my favorite song on my playlist (Excluding a certain band) #1 is Mike Krol’s song “Fifteen Minutes.”
“I Hate Jazz” Album cover, Released on May 1st, 2011..
Now, I haven’t been familiar with some of the other albums of the other artists before in this list, I just liked a certain song they had produced. But Mike Krol is one I know well. “Fifteen Minutes” is part of the “I Hate Jazz” Album released in 2011. some of the songs in this album have been in a few different things. “Fifteen Minutes” was in a dating sim game I like called “Monster Prom”, Thats where I first heard of this song. Some of you may have watched Steven universe as a kid, if you have, you may recognize his song “Like a Star” It was in season 4 episode 6 of steven universe. The lyrics in this song really pack a punch, The guitar and drums, are a chef’s kiss, and the other instruments pull everything together.
(If were excluding a certain band) Then this is by far my favorite song on my playlist. This was a tie for “Seventeen (Age)” Also by Mike Krol. Both of them are really good.
Thank you, for taking time out of your day to read a random list of songs, And if you want to check any of these out, the one I recommend the most, (the one I think most people would like) you should check out “Mystery Girl” by “Housecall.”
I think one of the seniors did this last year, but they actually knew the lore. I don’t 🙂
I’m FNAF adjacent if anything. If one of my friends talks about FNAF, I pick up on the lore, if I find tidbits of it, I might read more, and I’ve watched like two or three game theory videos. Surprisingly, I came out of it with a lot of lore. That said, summarizing the first three games and a little bit of franchise lore, let’s see if I can cap at 600 words and string together a plot line out of this mess using a series of crumbs and loose canon!
Somewhere, in the 1970s or 80s but definitely BEFORE 1983, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria opened its doors. A children’s playground, it spread across America, or something, amassing a franchise of animatronic bears, chickens, and bunnies. Or maybe it didn’t! Maybe it was one little murder hut where a bunch of kids got killed and someone in the FNAF universe said “hey that’s a great idea!” and they kept bringing the place back over and over again or maybe William Afton had a ton of money and he kept rebuilding the place? After.. Not getting caught for all the definite corpses in his restaurant? Something like that.
Oh yeah, the owner of Fazbear’s Pizza is William Afton.
There’s three things you need to know about William Afton: he has three kids, he runs the pizzeria franchise, and he loves child murder. He’s Papa Louie except with lots more death, OSHA violations, possible lawsuits, and mascots. Why he murders the children, aside from pure evil and a growing urge to kill, is unknown, although the sixth game hints that it may have something to do with his dead daughter, who was possibly the first child death? Or maybe he killed her first? Or maybe his wife died before that? No direct links have been drawn between these two events.
Supposedly, while running the children’s pizzeria, Afton would take children into a back alley and kill them. Supposedly, this was his “night hobby.” Afterward, to dispose of the evidence, their dead bodies would be stuffed into animatronic suits, and there, their ghosts would bring the animatronics to life. The dead children, now unable to function normally, work for the pizzeria in the daytime but when nightime comes, they become volatile, hunting security guards and anyone deemed a threat. William Afton, to escape this, dresses up as Springtrap, a mangled bodysuit. Somehow by game three, he’s fully possessed Springtrap. That is just William Afton in a bunny costume (no shame.)
Now, instead of various enemies of chickens animatronics, Fredbears, and whatever the Hell (captilized because Hell is canon to the FNAF universe) the rest of them are, your primary villain in FNAF 3 is William himself, haunting the now defunct original Freddy Fazbears along with phantom versions of the animatronics. Congrats!
So for this week for once I have something to write about. For the last couple of blogs that I have written about I think I have either written about something that resonates with me or something like a show or book that I have been really interested in. But today I want to talk about wish. Now you, like most, might be asking, “who is wish?” I was walking to go out to dinner with a group last night and that is when we saw her. She was walking across the street, small, clean, unaware of any cars that might drive past. But it was only when I signaled her to come over to me and she ran up to me and climbed into my arms did I know that she was different. For years I had never felt compassion for animals like I did for wish, however it wasn’t me who first really got attached to her,my girlfriend danni, walking beside me, took the kitten from me and played with her as we walked, holding her in her arms. Eventually I knew that I had to be the voice of reason, telling her that we needed to go. So we put her down and continued walking, my girlfriend stopping on multiple occasions to cradle the kitten that was walking at our feet. Finally we said our goodbyes and went into the restaurant, but as we got our food my girlfriend’s growing worry the kitten got the better of her. And as her and I left our friends at the table to go check on a kitten that I knew wasn’t going to be there. But as we opened the door we saw her, sitting there, chewing on rocks and dead beatles that she saw on the ground. But since we weren’t allowed to be out past nine we told our friends to go ahead while Danni and I scraped together the food we had and left it for her. As we crossed the train tracks past Georgia blues she grabbed my hand, “she’s not going to be safe here, can we please take her back?” All hesitation that I once had suddenly washed away and without thinking I crossed back over the street and scooped wish into my arms. The walk back was peaceful, looking up at the stars as wish began to fall asleep. And finally as we arrived back we played with a now rested kitten. A little ball of energy attempting to take in her new surroundings. It had been a long time since I had felt something like that before, the type of compassion that I felt for that cat. And after some convincing we managed to get a staff member to get in contact with a friend who she knew took care of cats before sending them to the shelter. So with a heavy heart about an hour later we handed off wish, knowing that not only us, but her had to keep going on. But walking back to my dorm I wasn’t sad she was gone, I wasn’t exactly happy but something inside of me felt different. Time was passing and in that moment I felt like that small cat, the feeling that something new inside of me was starting the same way her entire life was about to.
Very long title but yeah, that’s exactly what it is. My other option was reviewing the Papa’s ria games, and while that would’ve been fun it would’ve taken a while. So this works!
2000s Mix: Dear Maria, Count Me In
Found this one around summer of 2022, probably one of the only songs I found through shuffle around that time and enjoyed. I vibe with All Time Low so I didn’t mind the song, even though the song itself never enticed me as much. The song follows a Hollywood agent down on his luck probably somewhere in Los Angeles. He’s down on his luck after screwing over one of his talents, Maria, who he basically bled dry of fame and success by whatever story she had. Not my favorite, but a good listen!
Moody Mix: Cigarette Ahegao
Penelope Scott goes hard so this is already an A off the bat. Yeah, this probably isn’t a school appropriate song, (I made the mistake of nearly defining the title, don’t be like me,) but it’s incredibly enjoyable. It’s all about what a college student’s like looks like in America, as it follows the idea of someone trapped, needing an escape, but there’s no real time or place to do it, so you end up just coasting along. There’s also a very heavy theme of smoking, as the speaker is implied to be a smoker but not brave or “bad” enough to follow up on it. Definitely enjoyable, I would’ve gone mad for this in 2021.
Happy Mix: I’m Not Ok
Same guys as Happy Pills, this song is like the antithesis Cavetown? Both follow themes of mental illness and acceptance, but where Cave is quiet and soft, almost the kind of music you listen to while going to sleep or nights where you can’t handle things, this song is bursting with energy. It’s kind of ironic, the way the song calls itself “messed up” and “has no excuse,” but it’s not sad. It asks you not to blame it for the mental illness, just asks you to accept it. That’s kinda cool. Also this song would rock hard for an animation.
Indie Mix: Call Me What You Like
I think it’s kinda funny how in the music video you have everything in total chaos and then just have the singer staring into the camera while the chorus starts. Anyway, yeah I like this song. It’s not one of my favorites of Lovejoy’s, but it’s pretty good! Got a simple premise as it follows someone in a relationship who’s unsure of what the relationship really is. It’s someone else’s favorite, but I’m not big on the sound, and that’s okay.
Punk Mix: Teenagers
Even if I don’t listen to MCR, this song is fire. I actively turned up my earbuds to listen to it just for the shuffle. It’s loud, it’s bombastic, it’s angry, definitely not school appropriate, but who needs that? The song is exactly what it sounds like, teenagers are loud, angry, and emotional, and they scare the fire out of adults. Am I the exact demographic of an angry teenager the song is looking for and am I definitely biased? Yeah. Still rocks though. Top tier song, I would listen to it a bunch of times, but I have still not listened to MCR.
and there! Five songs off my Spotify explained to you poorly. I actually had fun with this one, so might do again!
When looking through what I wanted to speak about this week I found my mind wandering to things that didn’t seem that significant.
“I need to do my laundry”
“I need to follow up on that ACT prep course ”
“Should I take a nap?”
They’re all questions that I have thought about before, however I always thought it in a different sense, the thought that one day it would be the norm for me, one day I would find myself with these thoughts and not enveloped with the idea that it would one day be my life.
These thoughts that I think of often have become more enveloping in my day-to-day lifestyle. It’s an odd feeling. A calm one, I’ve always found myself trying to focus on the things coming up in my life. Whether it be something that is important that I am nervous for, or something I am really excited for, something that might change the monotony of life, but in the past few weeks it has begun to shift, my perspective that is. I’ve begun to see things more clearly, or at least my need for that feeling has begun to dissipate, the feeling of constantly searching for a new high. Now I find myself beginning to appreciate the more mundane aspects of my day, whether it be getting to read pieces of literature that I enjoy, or the smell of a good meal that is being emitted.
Taking time to write this is another example of finding the extent of finding emotion in the small things that you do. As I sit and write this there are so many things that are towering over me, anxiety that I once thought would never return yet I find myself focused on the story, focused on the book I am reading, focused on what I am going to get for dinner tonight.
Now that I find myself stopping a search that I once thought would never end I finally have time to take a breath. A breath that blows away every thought in my mind, wishing, hoping, and knowing that even the most towering of emotions could not destroy me.
Now as I sit alone writing this I find that I have found company with myself, company with the little things. The mug on my desk, the sound of the AC blaring in my ears as the cool air envelops me. I’ve grown.
