Which Spider-Man is the Best?

For a long time, this question has been floating around regarding the live action Spider-Man movies. So, in this blog I’m going to sort them from worst to best. But when I say worst, I still think he’s good, just not the best one.

Tom Holland

Image result for tom holland spider-man

I still really love Tom Holland. I love the movies and everything that this Spider-Man is in. I just don’t think he holds up like the other two. I feel as if his story was rushed a little too much. I see what they were trying to do with not showing his origin, but everything else about it was just strange. It felt like he never got to go through the big struggle of Spider-Man due to everything being given to him by Tony Stark. Yes, he still had to learn how to be a better hero and deal with his mistakes, but other than that, there wasn’t much for him to learn with him basically getting spoiled. The second movie shows him without Tony, but he still used a bunch of Tony’s equipment and had Happy to guide him. The third movie is where I think he does start to really start to feel like Spider-Man with the help of the other two. They did set it up for him to be more like the comic Spider-Man at the end of that movie, thankfully. But recent leaks show that he may still be on the huge multiversal stuff in the next movie rather than street level fights. Hopefully, this isn’t the case.

Tobey Maguire

Image result for tobey maguire spider man

Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man is pretty comic accurate. He is a really good Peter Parker. He really does encapsulate the nerdiness of Peter. But his Spider-Man, though extremely courageous and a really good hero, just doesn’t give off the Spidey energy. Spider-Man normally has really funny quips that are meant to be corny on purpose. The purposeful corniness of them is what makes them funny. Tobey’s Spidey is really serious a lot. Of course, he does joke around throughout the movies, but it seems like he’s actually trying to be really funny, but they just come off as corny in a bad way. Other than that, he is a really good Spider-Man.

Andrew Garfield

Image result for andrew garfield spider man

This one may be really biased due to him being the Spider-Man I grew up with, but I just really like him as Spider-Man. He doesn’t give off the nerd vibes, but he does give off the loser vibes of Peter Parker. He’s really awkward and gets bullied a lot. He normally keeps to himself like Peter does in his early years. When he is Spider-Man, he is really funny. He is pretty corny but does add in some real humor to it. I love seeing him beat up villains and mess with them in the process just to annoy them. His movies weren’t written the best story wise, but he seems to me to be an amazing Spider-Man. I also think the villains in his movies are pretty cool. I feel like they were some that most may not have thought to make a movie out of, but they did, and their stories were pretty cool.

Inside by Bo Burnham. Pt.1

Inside is an album that came out in 2021 made by Bo Burnham. It captured the attention of many young people who were trapped in their home due to quarantine. I will be talking about the songs from it as someone who is a huge fan of all of his work!! This will only be disc 1. I’ll do the rest another time.

Bo Burnham Releases 'Inside (The Songs)' As An Album: Stream

1. Content 1:36

Content is the first song of the album where Bo speaks on being back online after disappearing for years. He starts off saying that he didn’t expect to be inside of his home all of the time. He talks about not being able to leave and being a bit depressed about it, doing little things to get back into the swing of things. “I’m sorry I was gone, but look I made you some content.”

10 Times Bo Burnham's Inside Was Absolute Perfection

2. Comedy 5:19

Bo Burnham starts this song off saying how everything is changing, and no one knows what’s happening. Everything is happening all at once. Politics and climate change are overwhelming and it’s getting harder to be a comedy in such serious times, who wants to joke at a time like this? He wants to make a change but feels like comedy isn’t something that can make a change. He says he should use his voice, but also says that white men have had the stand for at least four hundred years so maybe he should just step out of it. But no! Bo wants to help without standing on the sidelines, even though he really knows he can’t. “Should I be joking at a time like this?”

Here’s a look at every song in Bo Burnham: Inside • Flixist

3. Facetime with my mom (tonight) 2:20

In this song Bo starts by saying he’s dropping everything to FaceTime his mom. He speaks about their conversations and dynamic. His mom is clearly an older woman who enjoys The Blacklist. He speaks about the odd relationship between him and his dad, the two barely talk with one another. His mother covers the camera with his thumb and Bo gets frustrated, we see him literally yelling at the phone. We never see his mom or dad. “I’ll waste my time facetiming with my mom.”

4. How the world works 4:15

This song takes the view of a show that is clearly meant for the children. He speaks about how the world works and that it can only work when everything works together. He speaks of thing in a very childish way, speaking about animals mostly and how they all give and get what they need. He then pulls out a sock puppet named “Socko”. The sock is more realistic than Bo, the way he speaks of things is devastating. Bo asks, “What can I do to help?” Socko tells him to educate himself and Bo makes a statement saying that he’s the one in control here. Socko argues against this but is almost pulled off of Bo’s hand. He begs to not go back to where it is he is when he’s not on his hand which is a state between not being dead, but not alive either. They end the song normally, but Socko gets taken off his hand anyway. “Remember who’s on whose hand here.”

5. White Woman’s Instagram 4:00

In this song Bo talks about just what the title is! In the song he names out very simple things. An open window, a novel, and avocado. Nothing that we all haven’t seen on Instagram before! The song is mostly repetitive, but in the video, we see Bo doing many poses of pictures I know I’ve seen on there before. At the end it gets a bit sad, speaking of the prospective from this woman. Apparently, both of her parents have passed. A lot of people think that it’s Bo’s actually story. I’m not very sure the condition his parents are in, but Bo made a bunch of jokes in the past about his parents being deceased. “Is this heaven? Or is it a white woman’s Instagram.”

6. Unpaid Intern 0:34

In this extremely short song Bo sings about being an unpaid intern, running around and not having any time for yourself at all. Questioning how most of the people there can even work there, but who cares? You’re just an intern. “I’m an unpaid intern.”

Unpaid Intern- Who's in the glasses?! : boburnham

7. Bezos 1:58

This is one of out the five Bezos song Bo Burnham made and I’d say it’s the most the popular one. He tells us that Jeff is an entrepreneur, and he was born 1964. He’s above them all! Zuckerburg and Gates and Buffet can suck it, he says! Also has a crazy piano riff. “C’mon Jeffery, you can do it.”

9. Look who’s inside again 1:23

It might seem like it, but this isn’t the most popular songs! Almost everyone has heard this title before, but it actually comes up in a latter song, singing the part we all know and love. Bo talks about how it is to be funny while being stuck in his home. How hard it is to make a joke and feel funny without an audience in front of you. “Trying to be funny and stuck in a room.”

The 30 Best TV Shows Of 2021

10. Problematic 3:13

So, before Bo Burnham disappeared from the internet, he had a bit of controversy attached to his name. During the times of 2020 we had people using their voices for things no one really needed it for, a lot of people who didn’t even have the authority to cancel him did try to! It didn’t go too far after those two years. He speaks about how times are changing. Is anyone gonna hold him accountable? He talks about the awful jokes he made when he was younger, but he isn’t using his age as an excuse. He did those things, but he does regret them. He ends the song saying sorry over and over “Isn’t anybody gonna hold me accountable?”

11. 30 2:34

In this song Bo talks about how he just turned thirty. We his birthday pass as we watch him make this series. He talks about how he got used to being so young, but now he’s thirty. He also speaks on how his granddad did so much at the age of 30 and he’s not doing anything, and everyone is having children except him. “Now I’m turning thirty.” (Not putting a picture. He was half naked for like most of this album, man.)

How Stranger Things Ruined a Character and then Killed them Off

Spoilers for most of Stranger Things, especially season four.
Minor trigger warning for mentions of character death/injury. Read mindfully and take time for yourself to relax if need be! :]

October of 2017 saw the release of Stranger Things Season two, arguably the best season of the entire series (and this is coming from someone who’s favorite character is Eddie Munson). Season two expanded on the character growth that began in the first season, tackled strong emotions around family trauma, abuse, and mental health, and presented a boat-load of new characters. One of the most notable being Sadie Sink’s character Max Mayfeild. Max is presented as a tomboy-ish new student, straight from sunny California with her mom, step-dad, and older (step) brother. The main cast of characters, all teen/preteen boys, are immediately intrigued by her boy-ish personality and video game skills. Her introductory season reveals Max to be someone comfortable in her identity; she prefers masculine clothing, stays away from makeup and dresses, and enjoys hobbies that (especially in the 80s) were categorized as ‘for boys’. She is even noted in her first ever on-screen scene to prefer the name ‘Max’ to her birth name, ‘Maxine’. Most of this is unimportant to this specific blog post, but I mention it to point out that she was a perfect representation for possible transgender or gender non-conforming representation. Given the show’s history with queerbaiting, I’m not surprised they deciding against giving her a queer plot line.

Season three completely overrides all of Max’s previously stated character development. To be fair, season three did this with many characters, not just Max, but Max’s is easily the most noticeable. Season three portrays Max as much more feminine, something that feels much more uncomfortable given that this is the season where she officially has a boyfriend. Her relationship with Lucas is another thing that season three does extremely dirty. They are shown arguing and ‘breaking up’, only to get back together days later. This joke-y and gimmick-y relationship completely undermines the intense emotional bonding that they two characters shared in the first season. In season three, there is no relationship tension between Lucas, one of the few black characters, and Max’s extremely racist brother Billy. Lucas and Max no longer share any heart-to-heart bonding moments like they did throughout season two. Their relationship is turned into a sit-com adjacent plot device in a matter of minutes.

Another fatal flaw in season three is the almost satirical ‘feminism’ that Max’s new personality displays. She and El become close, specifically bonding over their shared hatred for annoying teenage boys. This would possibly make sense with any other two characters, but given their previous motives, this is senseless. Max had been categorized as a loner who found community within the main friend groud of the show. She enjoyed their company and wanted to spend time with them. She didn’t mind their ‘teen boy’ humor- in fact, she acted the same as they did. Similarly, El saw the main friend group as some of the only real family she had. She was arguably emotionally attached to them to an unhealthy point, which only further skews the season three plot. In season three, both El and Max suddenly want nothing to do with the main friend group who they had previously devoted most of their lives to. On top of all of this, Max and El are continuously objectified throughout this season as simply presenting as ‘nagging girlfriends’, foils to the main male characters.

The ending of season three is one I still cannot fully comprehend myself. The way it is so easily swept under the rug come season four is baffling, but I could care less about season three as a whole. The only important thing to note is that Max’s abusive step-brother Billy is killed by the end of season three. Season four Max is extremely disturbed by this, and her mental health takes a clear nosedive. She is once again portrayed through the more masculine and standoff-ish loner personality which she was presented with in season two. She is clearly affected by Billy’s death, as well as some vague nightmares and visual hallucinations which seem to be plaguing her and other characters throughout this season. Season four redeems a lot of the qualities that were lost in season three. Max and Lucas’ relationship is still messy, but now the reason for that is clear. Max is isolating herself from everyone she cares about because of her mental health struggles and clear depressive episodes. Lucas is devoting most of his freshmen year towards the school’s basketball team and is thus missing out on a lot of important events. As season four progresses, Max and Lucas have more of those familiar heart-to-heart moments that they shared in season two. They continue to bring out the best in each other and support one and other through even the most gut-wrenching parts of the season.

Most of season four was spent reworking all of the character development that Max had lost in season three. Because of this, a lot of her mannerisms and plot points felt repetitive. Despite being the main focus of season four, it seemed like the plot was happening to and around her, rather than Max herself affecting the plot in any major ways. This is just another disappointing example of Stranger Things’ weak writing post-season two.  While it’s not clear what was causing these notable writing shifts, one can find it easy to assume it had something to do with the wide spread interest in the show and their excessive budget growth.

While the end of season four is unclear, is easy to assume Max’s fate. After her unfortunate battle with Vecna, nearly all of her bones are broken and she is left blind and possibly deaf. According to El in the end of the season, Max’s soul is also seemingly absent from her body as well. While I wouldn’t be surprised if season five pulled out some insane plot devise where Max is magically cured, I wouldn’t be happy about it. As much as I love Max’s character and everything about her, I feel that with the trajectory of the show, she has unfortunately served her purpose. With the creators clearly unsure of how to properly wrap up her character arcs, she is instead completely immobilized and reduced to a catatonic state. Not only is this a sad ending, it’s also disappointing. I like to rewatch season two and imagine a world where the creators furthered her character with important plot devices centered around her mental health, her abusive step-family, and her relationship with her mom. I imagine they pursue a queer-focused plot with Max’s character and show how Lucas helps her through the confusing questions she has about her identity and her gender. I imagine her and El forming an actual friendship that passes the bechdel test each time they interact. Unfortunately, I am not the one writing Stranger Things.

My Newest Obsession

Among all of the things I say I love, graphic design is one of the top three on that list. I love being able to bring what’s in my brain out into reality. Sadly, I can’t do that on my own because my hands are unsteady and I can never seem to get drawings just right. That’s kind of why I didn’t apply for the visual arts course here at MSA. Enter Canva. Now I promise this isn’t paid for, just my humblest of humble opinions. Canva is my favorite thing on earth. Even the free version is great, though now I have Canva Pro (thank you for feeding my addiction Ms. Hannah-Shea). I’ve only had Canva Pro for a couple days now but I LOVE IT. It offers more options for editing photos and general projects, templates, and elements. I can use tools and elements that were previously locked behind that blasted paywall. I’ve been handling the Instagram posts for our school newspaper, along with a couple projects for our Halloween festival happening in October. Now not too many details about that. Can’t ruin the surprise, can I? 😉

Canva allows you to create a multitude of things, from logos to posters, and much much more. It has an extensive library of graphics, fonts, images, and effects for animations. These graphics come with a transparent background which is incredibly helpful. If you like graphic design or digital art then I’m sure you’ve gone through the pain of finally finding an image you like on Google, thinking it’s got a transparent background, then putting it into whatever your program of choice is and then realizing that it is, in fact, not at all transparent. Noooooo, the pain!!!! Yes, I am dramatic.

Along with the graphics, fonts, and images, there are also templates! These templates are preloaded, predesigned and everything. This means that a stunning Instagram post is as easy as 1 2 3. You only have to fill in the information and replace the stock photos and you’re done! I’ve never used Canva for my personal social media, frankly because none of my photos are ever nice enough for graphic design, but I know that it is incredibly useful in those applications.

With these graphics you can also change the colors with ease, which makes it incredibly easy when you like the design of something but don’t necessarily like the colors.

Canva has become one of my most used websites in a matter of weeks because of the ease with which you can use it. It is incredibly simple and gives you a tutorial when you first make an account. I hope you come to use it as much as I do!

DC Comics Absolute Series

Good morning or evening Ladies and Gentlemen today I’m going to be talking about the upcoming comic book series Absolute Dc where they reconned all the characters in the original series but unfortunately this won’t be cannon to the original marvel universe.

1. Absolute Batman.

Okie dokie since there isn’t a lot of information about him, I can’t go into a lot of details about him, but I can tell you what I do know. Compared to the original universe where he is stinking rich in this one his is dirt poor and works as a city engineer. he is 6ft but in his costume he is 7ft tall (I’m not Tryna fights this monster)

this batman does whatever it takes to clean up Gotham going through things that the original only even though of that’s why Alfred in this universe is his sniper is whereas in the original he is his adoptive father.

very brutal very efficient very demure

2. Absolute Wonder Woman

so, in this universe wonder woman is still an amazon warrior but she dosen’t come from paradise island instead she is raised by witches in hell which may not infer that she has magic that we won’t find out until the comic comes out.

at least she still as her sword though it’s quite big now.

Absolute Superman

So Again, not a lot of information surrounding this character but what we do know is that he will not have any morality. I know sounds like a certain someone

in the absolute universe he won’t have the Kents with him at all, so we don’t know if that he won’t have parents at all or just bad parents in general. Now I got to be honest I’ve never been a fan of superman, but I can understand why people like him since he is basically like the allmight of dc but I’m not going to lie.

He looks cold I he might just replace Kyle Rainer as my fourth favorite in dc.\

Expectations: I have very high expectations for this, and I know a lot of comic book fans do as well and with the support everyone’s giving the creator I’m sure it will be a hit.

Dislikes:  I’m sorry but this is just a pet peeve of mine.

WHY IS HE BLOND. Hear me when i say this no hate to the blondies out there I love y’all, but batman is not blond it ruins his entire aesthetics and a Frenchie… really his son had a German Shepard this one should at least have a bulldog.

What do Jack Stauber’s songs mean?

Hello today’s blog will focus on just a few of Jack Stauber’s songs and what {in my opinion} they signify and mean! For some background Jack Stauber is American musician/ animator who is known for the unique sound parings he uses in his songs and how he sings in “cursive”.

1- Easy to breathe

This song was released November 6th, 2020, and was a song featured in a psychological horror film titled “Opal” it is sung by a character who smokes cigarettes incessantly and is obsessed with tv. This leads him to go onto sing this and the whole premises of the song is how he does not understand how the people in the tv can breathe so easily. He also goes on in this song to ramble about how the women on tv love him and idolize him and how they “want his soul” (mind you he is also singing this song to a young child).  Though I believe there is a deeper meaning than just being a stay-at-home bum and bad grandfather. The deeper meaning is the story is about co-dependency and usage of unhealthy coping mechanisms. This can be seen because the man singing is both blind and has an illness. It is a theory that his illness is caused by his constant smoking but also that the illness in turn took his sight. Yet this man still chooses to watch endless amounts of tv? The answer to why he would do that is it is how he copes and it’s what he depends on. He watches the same shows daily because he can remember what they were like before he became blind, and it is his last connection to reality. As he seems to forget who his own grandchild is numerous times while singing. his cigarettes are something he has always had and is how he copes as his current living situation is quite unfortunate.

2- Dog nightmare

This song was released March 25th,2017 and honestly is one or was one of his more popular songs released. It also is a song that not much has been found out about when it comes to any deeper meaning. On the surface level it seems very unassuming with lyrics like “(My name is Jack) Hello! (Okay-)(Mmm-oy) (Go outside)(Here we go, ah!)” as you can see most people may not want to or will find this hard to really analyze. I see it thought as something that could potentially lead to the topic of an unhealthy relationship. If you look into just the title of the song dog nightmare automatically alludes to something more. And we are hit with a few key lyrics such as “I was dancing to your house last Wednesday night (I was dancing to your house last Wednesday night)I caught a little word of something you said (I caught a little word of something you said)Now I can’t let little prose come out of my head, ha”. This already sounds like something has gone down and combining with the rest of the lyrics speaking about going for a ride and allusions to biting. This insinuates maybe they are physically going on a drive to escape what’s going on and biting is a clear symbolism for violence. So, although this is not one of my favorite songs by him in my opinion its mystery surrounding it makes it very fun to analyze!

Jack Stauber - Dog Nightmare (한글번역/자막) - YouTube

3- Dead weight

I love this song to an unhealthy extent so as one does, I simply over-analyzed it to death. This song was released April 14th,2018 (writing these dates is making me realize I’ve been a fan longer than I thought). This song though you can already see the underlying meaning fairly easily. Jack uses tones that almost sound similar to whining or someone who is mourning a person. It is also a fairly popular song as it creates a nostalgic tone that viewers loved. This also probably why it is one of three songs which have their own music video! The meaning I took away from this was just honestly a person who feels like a failure. It seems as the person alludes to that they have everything they “need” but not really anything else of importance. This is what leads them to spiral and talk and repeat many times the word “dead weight”. It alludes to the sense of what they feel being that in the grand scheme of things they feel minuscular.

So overall these are the meanings or take aways I have had after listening to these songs! Be sure to check out this songwriter if any of these speak to you and he also has many other silly songs and Claymation animations!

Steph Loves Tomodachi Life

I’ve loved Nintendo games ever since I could remember, but I’m not as cool as most people who loved Nintendo as a kid, I had a 2DS instead of a 3DS because my dad thought they were cooler. Also, I was just an average enjoyer who didn’t understand half of the games I played because I was too young (and wasn’t conscious yet).

One game has consistently stuck with me for years, though, and that’s Tomodachi Life. It was released in 2013 in Japan, then a year later in North America. Unfortunately, I was late to the party and found out about it through DanTDM’s series on YouTube. By that time, I had moved to America and in the process, somehow lost half of my stuff (including my 2DS that I lowkey hated). So, I bought a brand new 3DS off of Amazon and Tomodachi Life, as well as Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I don’t think I could ever recreate that excitement that little 8-year-old me had for that Amazon package. When it finally came, I tore that box open and got to work.

Tomodachi Life is a simulation game where you make little characters then feed them, give them gifts, play games with them, and watch them creepily through their windows. Little 8-year-old me loved that apparently because slightly bigger 16-year-old me still loves it. I made all my best friends, family members, and whoever else I could possibly think of, and I took care of all of them like a loving mother.

When you first start the game, you get the chance to make a “lookalike” of yourself on an island you get to name. I have such distinct memories of making my lookalike and moving the mole feature to the bottom right side of my mouth and making it huge so I could see it. I would always set my height as short as it could be and make my shirt pink. When I think back on it, I miss those days like crazy, but I left my 3DS (which is the same 3DS I ordered when I was 8) at home.

One thing about Tomodachi Life that I have to talk about is the music! I spent so many hours playing that game that I have almost every song’s melody memorized. The second I hear the night theme, my mind goes back to all those times I played my 3DS past my bedtime under the covers. When I hear the apartment theme, I remember every time I would show my friends the character I made for them, and they would usually react with mixed emotions because I probably made them look really ugly.

One thing that I’ve been silently hoping for is a version of Tomodachi Life for the Nintendo Switch. I don’t know how they would adapt it because the 3DS and the Switch are really different, but a girl can dream! I know a lot of people talk about how great it would be if Tomodachi Life came to the Switch and I’ve been tricked a couple of times thinking it finally happened, which is so embarrassing.

I’m about to tell you a secret I haven’t told anyone, but I guess I just spill all my secrets on this blog. Whenever I’m feeling unmotivated to do a task, like laundry or cleaning, I just play Tomodachi Life music and pretend that I’m a little islander doing my chores with my lookalike watching after me. It doesn’t even have to be Tomodachi Life, sometimes I pretend to be a Sim from the Sims 4. I just realized I play pretend a lot for a 16-year-old… But try it and thank me later!

Thank you for reading my silly blog about the game that’s been festering in my mind recently. I think I’m more obsessed with it now than I have been because I forgot my 3DS at home and I can’t get it for another week. Also, I haven’t even thought about DanTDM in years until I started writing this so that was a crazy throwback.

2 Adrianne Lenker songs I can’t stop listening to

Adrianne Lenker is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. She’s a songwriter for a band called “big thief” and she’s well known for her solo career. Her songs are mostly in the alternative/indie rock/ folk genre and her themes (to me) are about childhood, unrequited love and poverty. I can’t say I’m completely accurate, as I am just discovering her music in the car. But as far as Wikipedia says, she’s cool. Seriously though, her music is like a breath of fresh air to me. She depicts childhood, living in a rural area, lost love, hardships with self-harm and family troubles in such a colorful, captivating way. She uses her experiences to craft these songs, and I think it’s ridiculous how well she does it. Today I will be talking about 2 of my favorite songs from her and sharing why they are so interesting to me.

  1. Half Return

       A little preview :

(Illinois toll road, Indianna plain

Roll the windows down, shoot at the change

Half return, Half return

Standing in the yard, dressed like a kid

The house is white, and the lawn is dead

Half return, Half return)

I’m 99% sure half return is my favorite because of the imagery and storytelling. Her voice adds a lovely touch, but the message and imagery behind it is so rare and crucial to me. The picture of a white house with a dirty lawn reminds me of the rural town I came from. Seeing those conditions in every neighborhood yet the children playing despite it was such a tearjerker. To say that this song makes me relive those moments is an understatement. It’s more like another experience itself.

Ingydar

A little preview:

(Fragilely, gradually and surrounding

The horse lies naked in the shed

Evergreen anodyne decompounding

Flies draw sugar from his head

His eyes are blueberries, video screens

Minneapolis schemes and dried flowers.)

Indygar is so beautiful. Its about a dead horse and how its body is being eaten by animals and nature, the whole message about how we must return to what we were. But the words and the metaphors/comparisons in this song is why I love it so much. For example, I thought it was incredible how she compared the horse’s dead eyes to blueberries and video screens. Almost like its being witnessed by a child or a person unfamiliar with dead animals. All the grassy, farm vibes made this song really stick out to me. The message and poetic scheme of her music never fails to amaze me.

Tyler, the Creator

41 Pictures Of Tyler, The Creator That Will Probably Make You ...

Tyler, oh, Tyler. How I love you, my king/goat. Your music brings sweet symphonies to my ears. Your humor is unmatched like no other. You’re so ugly, but the most adorable. Your music is my drug, so I will rank my favorite songs (this totally is nothing like my Frank Ocean one. Who even is that?)

Image result for call me if you get lost

5. Sorry Not Sorry

This song is from his album called, Call Me If You Get Lost. Even though this song is in fifth place, I still really like it. It starts off with Tyler apologizing to people he may have caused harm to in the past. The, he starts to get more agitated and use more sarcastic apologies, saying he shouldn’t have to apologize to these people. I like how the music shift to convey the tone of Tylers voice. When he’s sincere, its soft and laid back. But when he’s mad, its aggressive and loud. I give this last place, because I think the next one are still a little better.

4. Gone Gone/Thank You

This song is from his album called, IGOR. This song is about a girl who left Tyler, a common theme in many of his songs. This song has two parts to it. In the first part of the song, he speaks about how he is devastated over the loss of a partner through a breakup. He conveys a sad and longing feeling throughout this part of the song. In the second part, he thanks the girl for the good times they had. He was trying to make sure that they didn’t leave off on bad terms. This song uses voice modifications and repetition to make the listener feel the emotions it’s conveying. I love this song due to the relation that many can have too it, however, I do think he has better.

3. New Magic Wand

This song is also from IGOR. This song is about Tyler’s delusions while he begs for the girl from Gone Gone/Thank You to not leave him. He shows how he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her from leaving. This sets a scary and aggressive tone for the song. It starts with an aggressive beat that feels as if it is hitting you in the face, then Tyler’s lyrics come in even harder with him almost yelling to show his anger, frustration, and desperation. The way that Tyler shows his feeling puts this at number three. I love this one, but again, I do think some sound a little better.

2. See You Again

This song is from his album called, Flower Boy. This song is about a lost love that fell through the cracks. It explains the rawness and vulnerability that come with departing from someone you love. It also talks about the process of moving on and accepting what is the now. This song keeps a peaceful and beautiful melody that is almost saying, “It will be okay.” Tyler features Kali Uchis on this song. Her part shows how being with this love is like a dream that will not last. This is one of my favorite songs by him and if the next one didn’t exist, this would be number one.

1. SWEET/I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE

This song is also from Call Me If You Get Lost. This is my all-time favorite Tyler song. This is song is a two-parter that starts with Sweet, then transitions into I Thought You Wanted to Dance. Sweet is about a girl who Tyler thinks is amazing. He wants to get with this person, despite knowing what all he may be getting himself into. This girl ends up falling for someone else, confusing Tyler. Thats where I Thought You Wanted to Dance comes in. This song is him trying to figure out why the girl would do that. He expresses his confusion and dissatisfaction for the situation while the girl tells him that it was just bad timing. I love this song, because it uses great melodies that make you feel great, especially when it gets to the second part. Whenever this song comes on, I never skip.

Don’t hug me, I’m scared!! Tw: Some mentions of gore.

Dhmis is a show that most kids found and probably weren.t supposed to watch! The show has these three puppets who live together. Yellow guy, duck, and red guy. (Idk if they’re actually called that!!) The three of them were introduced to very educational creatures, who turned out to either be evil or very evil! I will be yapping about their songs.

1. The creativity song

The song starts with the three sitting at their kitchen table. A little notepad opens and sings about the idea of creativity. It’s her favorite idea, and she thinks creatively. She tells them all to think how she does, that she sees things differently and expresses herself different. She begins to convince to see everything like she does. Clowns are bad and green isn’t creative, of course!! Listen to the rain, and your brain, and your heart! They took a bit too far though.. (Literally covering a heart in glitter.) Anyway!! They all agreed to never be creative again!

2. The time song

This episode starts with red guy being excited about their show that starts in five minutes, Duck says there’s not enough time. The clock on the wall speaks and says, “There’s always time for a song!” He then goes on to explain what time is. You can put it on the wall or wear it on your wrist!! The past is far behind us and there is no future. It only goes forwards and no other way. The clock encourages them to learn more about time. Times flies by when you’re having fun, but there’s a time and a place for mucking around! Now it’s the future, and there’s so much more stuff you can do! Fish everywhere. The three begin asking questions about time, is time real? Is it just someone humans made up? This angers the clock, and he makes yellow guys ears bleed. The clock then ages all three of them rapidly making their bodies decay, all except yellow guy. He’s only a clock though, eventually everyone runs out of time!

3. The love song

This episode starts with the trio on a picnic. Duck has prepared a chicken picnic!! Yellow guy sees a butterfly, but Duck squishes it which makes him run away in tears. A butterfly (a little baby pigeon) sees yellow guy crying in the tree and says, “Makes you sad, doesn’t it?” The butterfly begins to sing about hatred and darkness, and that it doesn’t have to be that way. We could live in harmony! He takes yellow guy by the hand and tells him about love as they fly through the sky! Love is everywhere, it’s a feeling inside that everyone has. Red guy and Duck are left at the picnic, after they finish their chicken, they go look for yellow guy. The butterfly continues to speak on love, and everyone names what they love. Yellow guy loves everything, and they tell him that he’s doing it wrong. He must save his love for his “special one”. They tell the story of Micheal, the loneliest/ugliest boy in town. Everybody called him a freak, so he lived on his own underground, but everyone has a special one. Including Micheal. They begin speaking of pure love, that is protected with a ring. They worship a king named Malcolm who they feed gravel, or he becomes angry. They begin cleaning yellow guy’s brain and telling him to join their king. The episode ends with yellow guy waking up in a tree and his friends apologizing.

4. The computer song

The computer song begins with the trio playing a board game, it asks a question. “What is the biggest thing in the world?” They don’t know the answer, so they look at a globe! The globe turns and starts to sing but is interrupted by a computer. He’s a computery guy!! He speaks of his digital life and offers to show them. He speaks of how clever he is, and he can print pictures. He’s a clever smart boy, who can do it all digitally! The three agree to use his help and starts asking tons of personal questions, red guy tells him to shush over and over eventually yelling at him to shut up and trying to turn him off. The computer screams at him to not touch him, and they are transported inside of the computer. He introduces them to his digital home, and all of the different things that can be done! There’re over three things to do like pi charts, digital dances, and digital style. This sequence repeats multiple times before red guy begins spiraling. He tries to turn the computer off, following the cord to a room where he sees everything behind the scenes of dhmis. The episodes ends with his head exploding like a balloon and confetti coming from it!!

5. The healthy song

No more trio! Red guy is gone now. Duck and yellow guy sit in the kitchen and yellow guy speaks, “Something’s different!” He says, Duck replies, “Something’s missing.” As if they don’t remember their friend, despite pictures of him everywhere. Yellow guy points to something asking was it him, a piece of bread singing a intro to a song. A can begins singing to them asking if they’re hungry. She says, lots of people get hungry. A piece of steak then begins to sing about hungry coming from your body. It must be hungry, but not all tasty snacks are good to eat. A phone begins to ring which stops the music, Duck goes to answer the phone. When he says hello, he wakes up in a hospital bed. The song continues. The steak talks about the body, it’s like a house and food goes through the chimney. If the food is good, it stays for a party, but if it’s bad then it has to leave through the cat flap. Duck says it doesn’t make sense and the phone rings again. He answers it and they’re at the kitchen table again. The song continues speaking about what you can and can’t eat. Duck is distressed the entire time they’re explaining it all.  The fridge begins singing to Duck about food tasting great, Duck says he doesn’t want to do this anymore and knocks down the camera as he runs away. Again, he’s in the hospital bed. The can and the steak continue to sing to yellow guy about what he can and can’t eat. Again, we see Duck in the hospital bed, his organs being pulled out and eaten by a giant giggling can. They begin chanting that you shouldn’t eat food from a stranger’s plate. The episode ends with yellow guy stuffed with food and cans with Duck’s face all over the table. The phone rings again. We also see red guy in the credits, walking with a briefcase.

6. The dreams song

This episode starts with yellow guy in his bed, crying. The three of them shared a room. He says, “Goodnight, guys, I miss you.” A lamp begins singing to him about dreams, yellow guy says no and turns the lamp off, laying back down. The light comes back on and continues, yellow guy refuses but all he can do is listen to the lamp. The lamp says you can dream about anything! Riding a horse or drowning in oil.  Yellow guy wakes up and sees the lamp who begins singing about bad dreams. He begins sinking into his bed which is now made of oil. Then we see red guy, who wakes up in an office room. Someone asks him to file files, and red guys says, “Wouldn’t it be funny if these files came alive?” He begins singing and everyone starts at him, saying “That sounds really boring.” (the same thing he said to that notepad). We see his life; how boring and repetitive it all is. So, what does he do? He takes off his clothes and gets on stage and begins singing the creativity song. Everyone boos at him, but one person is interested. Yellow guys father, Roy, who is a businessman who showed up a bunch of times throughout the series. It’s Father’s Day after all!! All of these songs take place on June 19th, which is a day that Father’s Day took place on. The curtains behind him falls and he’s in a dark room. he hears the dream song and follows the noise. He sees multiple screens and one displays the lamp singing about yellow guy who’s is sobbing. Red guy presses buttons which begin to show everyone they’ve came into contact with along with other things. This contains for a while and yellow guy sobs; red guy keeps trying to fix the problem and he feels Roy touch his shoulder. He turns around and is frightened by the man. Red guy follows a cord and says, “I wonder what will happen?” He unplugs it and guess what? Everything starts over and the day is June 20th.
