Percy Jackson And the Olympians Part 2

Hello everyone, I’m back with another blog about Percy Jackson and the Olympians and I wanted to say thank you for all the support and if some of my information is off or it’s not going in that much depth it’s because I’m going off the top of my head this is also the 2nd part since I need to divert my Attention elsewhere  and if you guess what the 1. book is I’ll give you a cookie. Now without further ado I present.

3. The Battle of the Labyrinth

Characters: Annabeth, Percy, Tyson, Nico, Grover, Daedalus, Tyson, Luke, Kronos, Calypso, Poseidon, King Minos, Rachel Dare.

Ok so we start off the book with Percy attending orientation at his new school where he encounters some demons where during the fight fire is prong across the school which burns down. Percy would’ve been in major trouble if it had not been for Rachel dare the same girl that Percy met at the dam last book. She ends up getting him out of the school. Percy took her back to camp where she began her studies as an oracle. after getting her situated Annabeth and Percy talk to the campers to tell them Lukes’s plan but unbeknownst to Percy Grover was on trial for not finding Pan [ Even though the gods couldn’t even find him but go off] After this they do a war game [ like every book] where Percy is introduced to the new sword trainer [ who i believe was Luke please tell me if I’m wrong] Percy is suspicious of this new sword trainer because you know they are at war with Luke Chiron is so dumb sometimes. Percy and Annabeth find a labyrinth in camp which they believe Luke will use to invade the camp. Annabeth issues a quest to go into the labyrinth to find Daedalus Workshop and close off the route to the camp. Annabeth, Grover, Tyson and Percy go into the maze where they then cross paths with Nico from the book Titians curse who is there to try and resurrect his dead sister Bianca with the help of King Minos. Nico joins Percy even though he still hates him for not keeping his promise which is technically not his fault since she wanted to be dumb but i can understand Nico’s frustrations.

like I beforehand I haven’t read this in years so i only remember the important parts but stay with me now

Percy went on a side quest for Hephateus to kill a group of Monsters in a volcano that ends up exploding which leads to Percy and Annabeth getting separated with Annabeth thinking he died. Percy ends up getting stranded on an island where it Harbors Calypso (Atlas daughter). Percy stays there for about 2 weeks until he is finally able to leave and when he returns to camp, he sees the camp mourning him since they all thought he perished. Annabeth hugs and punches him for living and not telling her. long story short Grover finds pan makes him lord of the wild, Percy fights Luke, Kronos now has Lukes body, and Daedalus is dead destroying the labyrinth.

sorry, there’s not that much information I remember most not all.

Dolphins are the bad guys

Most people have always preferred dolphins over sharks as they assume all sharks are killers with crushing jaws. Well, I have news for all of you dolphin lovers because your beloved friends are not nearly as sweet as you think. For starters they are essentially the bullies of the sea and if they were humans most would refer to them as thugs. Some Un redeeming qualities they possess that have made me decide to even create this post are the following. They are infanticide which in simple terms is they murder their offspring and do not be fooled by how the media portrays them they attack humans too. They also are known to assault their own kind and kin along with poor unsuspecting fish. They are known to kill other dolphins for reasons no scientist could find actual evidence on other than the fact that they just do it for fun. They are disease breeding grounds and most of the diseases they spread through contact can be fatal to humans. They throw around pufferfish and spike their snouts with the poison just to get high. Their use of echolocation affects our underwater instillations, and they kill sharks just for the fun of it!

Now you may be wondering why or how a dolphin could ever manage to kill a shark and let me tell you it is gruesome. They use their snouts to ram into the poor sharks while specifically targeting their underside and gills and if you think just one dolphin aiming to cause damage to your organs just imagine that time five or even fifteen. They usually commit such acts in large pods making it almost impossible for the sharks or whatever they are toying with at the time to escape. Now though you may feel sad if your favorite animal is or was a dolphin well, I have good news for you because there is a much better animal of the sea to love. That animal is a shark, and they are plentiful unlike evil dolphin’s sharks come in many different sizes, colors, and breeds. Some sharks that are especially friendly are the nurse shark, Caribbean reef shark, leopard shark, and angel shark I mean come on guys it’s literally in the name!

Yes, I know media portrays them as evil beings, but I assure you they are not most people who actually work with marine life know they are also known as sea dogs due to how loving and curious they are. So, the next time you see a shark in the ocean of course don’t run up to it but also know unless it is behaving aggressively of course you don’t have to scream and run away. More often they are more curious than anything and if you do encounter a shark that is a bit to curious. You put your hand on its snout, you can easily actually flip the shark and push its head away #getrotated.

What the Toy?

As a continuation of my previous blog, I wanted to dive deeper on the questions that I had about my favorite children’s movies growing up. This installment is about the infamous Toy Story saga. There are 4 movies (and counting) in the Toy Story franchise and there are so many unanswered questions.

If you are unfamiliar with the Toy Story movies, allow me to summarize them: Andy, a boy who grows up over the course of the movies, has toys that speak and come to life behind his back. These toys go on adventures, go through real life situations and collect more friends along the way. They even switch owners and become separated at parts. It’s all an exhilarating rollercoaster of events for children watching the movies.

The toys begin to move and talk on their own. This is when the viewers are able to realize something is up. How are these toys talking and moving? Do they have brains that allow them to come to consciousness? The main plot of this first movie is that there is a new toy in the bedroom, a spaceman. His name is Buzz Lightyear, and Andy got him for his birthday. This toy quickly replaces Woody as the favorite toy. This sparks jealousy among the toys. How do toys have feelings such as jealousy? Aren’t they piles of plastic and fluff molded into dolls for children to play with? How do they have the ability to know that they are not the favorite anymore? This is continuously shown throughout the other 3 movies. Woody and Buzz soon become friends once they are launched on a firework at the end of the movie. How do they form friendships? They are toys?

The second movie is based around Woody getting stolen by a vintage toy collector. This sends Woody into panic. How does a toy feel panic? He meets 3 other toys in his kidnapper’s apartment: Bullseye (a horse), Jessie, and The Prospector. Apparently, they were all a part of a show called Woody’s Round-Up where Woody was the main character. The other toys from Andy’s room save Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye. It is revealed that The Prospector was an evil toy, so he is left behind.  How can toys save other toys? How can toys be evil? How did they find Woody? There are so many questions.

For the last two movies, the toys are off to find a new home. Andy is growing up and is going off to college. Andy mistakenly puts the wrong bag into his mother’s donation pile which contains the toys. The toys are panicking. Once again, how do toys panic? How in the world do toys feel emotions or even know what is going on around them? The toys soon end up going off to a preschool where they are mistreated. They are played with in a rough manner which they don’t enjoy. Back to the questions about emotions… They soon find themselves in a landfill at the end of the movie. They are scared(how??) but manage to get out before being incinerated and then find their way back to Andy. When back to Andy, he hands the toys off to a young girl named Bonnie who takes them to a carnival in the fourth and final movie. They are all loved and cared for. At the carnival, Woody is reunited with his love interest from the first two movies. How do toys have love interests? No clue. The movie is centered around this love interest and their reunification. It’s all super confusing with the toys having human qualities but my questions never get answered throughout the movies. How do they become conscious and unconscious depending on when their owner is around? There is even a game based on the events of this called “Andy is coming” that I’m sure most of us played when we were in around 3rd-5th grade.

Joe Pera Talks you to sleep

Falling asleep isn’t easy. Sometimes it’s hard to quiet your racing thoughts and let your worries rest.  My thoughts are most active at night. For the longest time I tried to find a way to dissolve, replace or eliminate them and every time I came back with nothing. It was an exhausting and tedious.

That was until I found a solution to my problem…It’s a tv show called “Joe Pera Talks you to sleep.”

Now, the title is exactly what the show consists of. It’s just a man (Joe Pera) Sitting in his bed with pajamas on talking to you until you fall asleep. That’s all. In this show joe uses a list of topics to replace our anxious thoughts with his calming ones. These thoughts are told through his monotone voice and lazy demeanor. As a whole, it has gotten me through many sleepless nights, and I’d like to share this stress reliever with you.

In this blog I’ll be discussing some of the interesting topics and quotes Joe Pera brings up in his Tv show. Hopefully they sound interesting enough for you to also use it as a stress reliever from time to time.

  1. “Are you nervous about starting something new? A new job, a new baby, a new pair of dress shoes your stressed about breaking in?”

In this show he uses plenty of opportunities to add irrelevant information. It’s quite humorous and relaxing. It makes you stop thinking about the weird crossing guard or rude customer. They catch your attention and get you thinking. Like maybe in this great big world there’s someone out there who’s worried about breaking in a new pair of dress shoes.

It’s comforting to know that the world is big, and your problems are small. All it takes is a change of perspective and looking at it from a less serious standpoint. Joe does a great job at evoking that perspective.

2. “Rain pouring must be #4 most soothing sounds, a close #5 would be pouring milk. It is especially soothing if it is whole milk.”-

Joe is specific about his ramblings. He speaks his mind and refuses to lie even if you’re listening to it on the verge of sleep. This quote is a piece of joe’s dialogue. It doesn’t dive into his likes and dislikes much, but he is very informative when it comes to a topic he is interested in. They are all specific and interesting, it makes you think about starting your own podcast or book because he doesn’t have a lot to say. But still, he finds a way to make it impactful and meaningful to viewers. And personally, it’s nice to be immersed in someone else’s world for a moment.

3. “It’s okay. I’m not too worried about my photographic legacy, in fact, I hope I’m not remembered at all and that one day I can just disappear.”

For context: Joe can’t keep his eyes open during pictures and must take them multiple times because the flash is too bright.

Joe’s thoughts and perceptions of the world can be vastly different from the average person’s. We can take lighthearted and humorous turns, or we can venture into the darker aspects of things. He expresses different viewpoints that reach many types of viewers. It’s refreshing and heartwarming to know he that he isn’t just rambling but also taking into consideration the different audiences reacting. Also, joe is a bit of a homebody, and he doesn’t like the fast life. In this show we rarely take a dive for deeper, sensitive topics but they do add a soothing touch.

Overwatch 2 duos!

Overwatch 2 is a live game that lets you team up with friends across platforms and devices. It has a diverse number of characters to pick from and here are some duos that I’ve played in the game!!

  1. Ashe & Cassidy.

Overwatch 2 - Echo: Habilidades, historia, consejos... Cómo jugar con ... Cassidy - Overwatch - JudgeHype

Truthfully, the only thing is that they’re both from Texas and have lor! Nothing about their gameplay is particularly made for duos, but it’s an honorable mention due to being the first one I ever played. They do both have ultimate’s that are terrifying to hear at the same time. Ashe has B.O.B, a big robot butler that she throws out and he eliminates everyone in his path. Cassidy has Deadeye, which means he can auto lock on a few people and eliminate everyone in his sight (Also, there’s a tumbleweed.)

2. Reaper & Sombra.

Mejores personajes de Overwatch 2 para Principiantes | Rompeniveles   Overwatch 2 October 10 Patch Notes - Overwatch 2 Guide - IGN

Probably the most fun of all of the ones I can name, but definitely the most annoying to play against. This duo makes it very easy to sneak behind teams, since both characters are stealth characters. Plus, their ultimate’s work together really well. Sombra’s being EMP while hacks the enemy for a short amount of time. Reaper’s being death blossom which pretty much eliminates the entire team, especially when they can’t use abilities.

3. Mercy & Brigitte.

Mercy Statistics - Overbuff - Overwatch 2 StatisticsBrigitte - Overwatch Wiki

One of the most efficient support duos! Brigitte heals when she does damage, so having a mercy pocketing her the entire game isn’t necessarily that bad. Mercy damage boosting Brigitte while she’s healing the entire team is a great strategy!

4. Moira & Ana.

Create a Overwatch 2 Moira Skins Tier List - TierMakerOverbuff - Overwatch 2 Statistics

Moira and Ana can both do amazing healing if needed, but Moira does a lot of damage for no reason! They work well together due to Ana’s ultimate which is a nano boost. Moira’s ultimate is coalescence which allows her to shoot out a huge beam of healing for allies, and damage to opponents. Moira being nano boosted while doing that is bound to eliminate a few people.

5. Bastion & Mei.

Bastion Statistics - Overbuff - Overwatch 2 StatisticsAll Overwatch 2 Characters List – Expert Game Reviews

Two of the nicest people in overwatch probably. Mei and Bastion make a great duo, their sitting emotes together make me so happy. Mostly their ultimate’s that go together. Mei can freeze the entire team if positioned correctly, her ultimate being blizzard. Bastion is able to take out however many people she froze with his ultimate Configuration: Assault which allows to drop three missiles.

6. Hanzo & Widowmaker.

Tracer Tips vs Every Hero. Day 11: Hanzo : r/TracerMainsWidowmaker in 2023 | Widowmaker, Overwatch, Overwatch widowmaker

Despite Hanzo being the best character ever and Widowmaker being the worse person in the game (I’m a hater), this duo works pretty well if you’re good at them. Both characters take a specific amount of skill to play them. Imagine having that much aim on your team? Then their ultimate’s, Widowmaker’s is Infra-sight, which gives the whole team the ability to see opponents wherever they are for a short amount of time. Hanzo’s ultimate is called Dragonstrike. He shoots these two huge dragons out of his bow. They only go in a straight line which isn’t a problem if you can see through walls, right?

7. Symmetra & Echo.

Best Genji counters in Overwatch 2 | How to counter Genji in OW2 - Dot ...Écho - Overwatch - JudgeHype

Honestly, their color palettes match and so do their sitting emotes, but that’s kind of it. A lot of duos are mostly for appearance wise for me, including Ashe and Cassidy. Echo does so much damage and her ultimate, duplicate, allows her to duplicate anyone on the opponent team. Symmetra’s ultimate is Photon barrier which puts up a giant shield, the team can walk through it, but it is definitely useful at time. Plus, her turrets are very useful and do tons of damage. Other than them being fancy that’s about it.

Imaginary Friends, Alternate Realities, and Dead Parents: Summarizing Fran Bow

Trigger/Content warning: This game has themes of murder, death, abuse, animal death, mental illness, and most of these things happen to young children. Please read with precaution and take care of yourself.

On August 17th, 2015, an indie story game with the 90s point-and-click game mechanic was released. On the surface, Fran Bow was a puzzle filled, easy to follow story of a young girl experiencing life-changing trauma and how she navigates her new life. As the story progresses, we are introduced to themes of 1940s psychology, experimental surgeries, religious imagery, young children with vast traumatic backgrounds, authoritative abuse, alternate realities, and even the supernatural.

The opening of the game is a cut scene with simple black and white drawings of Fran’s life before the plot of the game. We are introduced to nine-year-old Fran, her parents, her cat Mr. Midnight, and her aunt Grace. We are also shown a ghostly figure with an animal skull where a head should be. This creature appears after Fran finds the dead and mutilated bodies of her parents. The ghostly creature haunts Fran through her journey as a reminder of the traumatic murder of her parents. The creature tries to make Fran believe she was responsible for her parents’ deaths, and that she will be the next to die because of it.

The game starts with Fran in a mental hospital with other children. She has been separated from her cat, Mr. Midnight. She is deemed a troublemaker by the nurses and has been prescribed a medicine called Duotine. This medication is a psychoactive drug that allows Fran to see and roam around an alternate version of her reality. This new reality is filled with death, ghostly figures, and secret messages. To escape, Fran must rely on the pills as well as the help of other children in the hospital. Once making it out, Fran must make it through a hedge maze filled with shadow monsters and bug creatures. At the end of the maze is a sewer and walking through will draw chapter one to a close.

Chapter two opens with Fran stepping out of the sewer and into the unfamiliar forest. She meets a large bug-man and his pet beetlepig, a rat who wants their fur brushed, ghostly heads hanging from trees by their hair, and a pinecone family. To leave this forest, Fran must assist all of these creatures and in return, they help her through a small door at the base of a wishing well. This door brings Fran into a colorful home filled with frilly decorating, beautiful foods, and interesting family photos of two twin sister. Continuing through the house, Fran finds paintings of the ghostly creature that stalks her, doll heads and dolls in cages, bloodstains, and even a dead body. Fran makes it to the attic where she finds her beloved cat, Mr. Midnight, trapped in a bird cage. In order to free her cat from the cage, Fran must meet the owners of the house and help them preform a ritual. The owners, Mia and Clara, are twin girls who have been sewn together at the hip. Their backstory is unclear at this point in the story, but their motives are clear: they want Fran to complete a ritual that could get her killed. Instead, Fran performs a ritual to redeem Mia and Clara’s trapped souls. Once they are freed, Fran is able to retrieve the key to free Mr. Midnight. This chapter ends with Fran and Mr. Midnight traveling across the ocean on the back of a large toad and ending up on a new island inhabited by root, tree, and vegetable people.

In this new world, Fran finds that she has become a tree person as well. Fran and Mr. Midnight meet the king of this new reality, and he introduces them to someone who can help Fran become human once more. They are introduced to the doctor of the realm, a large, flying, pink axolotl named Palontras. He takes Fran to his island where he tries to help her but is unable to completely return her to her human form. He advices Fran to visit the wizard atop the mountain as he might be able to help. Once more, Fran must complete puzzles, riddles, and quests to complete this goal, but she is ultimately able to become human once more. The end of the chapter is a mini game where Fran must run away from a large troll creature to safety.

Chapter four is broken into two parts. The first starts with Fran and Mr. Midnight back in a forest that Fran doesn’t recognize. She has lost her pills but finds them tied to a string. She tries to grab the bottle, but it is pulled away. Fran follows the moving bottle until she finds herself stepping directly into a net trap. She is quickly able to escape, but when she does, she meets an important new figure. Itward is a large, lanky, skeleton man with a top hat and fancy suit. He has Fran’s best interest at heart and is prepared to help her escape from her hardships for good. She must help him get his ship started, but once she does, the three of them board the flying ship. Itward’s ship holds most of the lore, backstories, and information that you can find in the game. You must complete more puzzles, as well as ones that make Fran question Itward’s intentions. In the end, Itward helps Fran fight off the ghostly creature that’s been following her and earns her trust.

REVIEW: Fran Bow – Heart-Warming and Slightly Disturbing | Girls in Capes

The second part begins when Fran and Mr. Midnight attempt to enter their home. The door is locked, so Fran instructs Mr. Midnight to enter through the window and open the front door for her. While Mr. Midnight is in the house, the head doctor at the mental hospital drives up to the house and insists Fran should get inside his car. The doctor doesn’t believe Fran when she says Mr. Midnight is inside the house; rather, the doctor believes Mr. Midnight died alongside Fran’s parents. During the drive, we find out that the doctor had recently been fired as he began to question the goings-on within his own hospital. Fran convinces him to take her to the graveyard where her family is buried to try and prove the existence of multiple realities.  They dig up her family’s grave but ultimately find the skeletal remains of this realities Mr. Midnight. While leaving the cemetery, the doctor is killed by the ghostly figure following Fran and chapter four ends.

Fran Bow Chapter 4 on AppGamer.com

Chapter five opens with Fran chained to her childhood bed. Her aunt comes in and explains that she was the one who restrained Fran, and that it is for her own safety. To escape, Fran must depend on the alternate versions of herself who inhabit the realities around hers. When she manages to escape, she must complete more complicated puzzles before she can leave her bedroom. Getting through her bedroom door leads her into a brand-new reality with doors on the walls, ceilings, and floors. The reality seems to be floating in the middle of space, not bound by time or regular physics. Fran must pass through all of these rooms, solving more puzzles and helping the inhabitants of this plane. She finally makes it into the final room and finds herself in a waiting room lobby, very similar to the one back at the mental hospital. She trades tickets with another patient so she can enter the doctor’s office first. This is where she finds that the doctor had not actually been killed at the cemetery. He is sitting in an electric chair, bound with leather binds. Mr. Midnight is also there, once more trapped in a cage.

Fran Bow (2015) - Game details | Adventure Gamers

The end of the game is insane twist after even crazier twist, and I will save all of that for the next part. In the second half of this mini-series, I will dive into the deep lore I did not touch on here, historical importance, and even fan theories. I highly encourage anyone to play through this game, even after reading through this post. Fran Bow has a simple mechanic, but it is a powerful game with a compelling story that remains important when discussing mental health today.

Met Gala 2024

Hello! I’m Jude, I’m a Junior Literary at MSA and I love fashion. I don’t think you understand, I am obsessed. And with fashion, there are always runways. One of the most famous runways? The MET Gala. Regarded as one of the most prestigious and opulent fashion runways in the world, anyone who is anyone is invited. It is technically an annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in Manhattan. Used as an event to mark the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual exhibit, The Met Gala has a different dress code every year, as well as a different themed exhibit. Now, the exhibit theme and gala dress code are two very different things. The dress code describes to the guest what their outfits should be inspired by, while the exhibit theme pertains to the outfits being shown in the Costume Institute. This year, the gala theme was The Garden of Time, which is a short story by J.G. Ballard. In this story a count, vilified by an angry mob, cuts a glass rose from his garden, which gives him the ability to slow down time, but only for a short duration. The count continues to cut these glass roses from his garden, pushing the mob back slightly, until there are no more roses left. That being said, enough background info, I’m going to walk you through my favorite and least favorite outfits of the 2024 Met Gala show.

Favorites

1. Janelle Monae

One word. Stunning. Janelle Monae has always been a favorite of mine, but this blew everything else out of the water. Wearing Vera Wang, with REZA jewelry, she elegantly traverses the red carpet. The discs hanging from her dress were made from recycled plastic, with a 3D flower, sprouting from her shoulder, reminiscent of the glass flowers from the story that inspired the dress code. It was tasteful, beautiful, and on theme. Tens across the board.

2. Tyla

Tyla and Balmain took the theme of time much more literally. In a sculpted dress made of sand, yes, sand, she makes a nod to the sands of time. Of course, the hourglass clutch makes that even clearer. Who knew that you could make a dress from sand and crystals? Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, that’s who.

3. Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo in Thom Browne. Beautiful style, beautiful voice, beautiful all around, and keeping with the theme. Along with her dress, Erivo affixed an embroidered dragonfly to the base of her skull. Love the design choices, along with the mini insects on her tuxedo (as much as I dislike bugs anywhere but in nature). This was an amazing choice for the dress code, though I wish I had seen more of the aspect of time.

Least Favorites

1. Nicole Kidman

Girl, what is this? It’s weirdly shaped, boring in color, and doesn’t have any visible correlation to the dress code! Balenciaga did it again everybody! Ugly clothes that no person with any sense in their head would wear. Now NK’s 2023 MET dress was beautiful, but she flopped on this one.

2. Kim Kardashian

Waist cinched to oblivion, organs nowhere to be found, aluminum leaves chained together and to a fake silver corset. And the cherry on top of this pile of dog doo? The cheap, and pilling, mind you, H&M sweater. Go home.

3. Doja Cat

I can’t put the picture up here but she’s basically naked. Done in poor taste. Try again soon.

Hello everyone, :)

So, as my first post I decided to rank my favorite book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians and give details about each book. I’ll be ranking them lowest to highest

5. Sea Of Monsters

Ok so the sea of monsters is about of Grover (2nd fav) is captured by a cyclops and Percy and Annabeth go across the sea to rescue him encountering Luke the person that betrayed Percy and the camp and the end of the last book. Where they also met up with allies like Clarissa and Aries (God of war) and had to help them fight a group of enemies (I don’t remember who) but after the help her out they use the sub that Aries gave to Clarissa to go to the island where Grover is being held. When they get to the island, they find Grover in a wedding dress about to get married to the cyclops with the help of Tyson and Clarissa they managed to get Grover out and escape.

Likes: Grover in a wedding dress, Annabeth and Percy relationship growing

Dislikes: Literally everything else. there was barely any character growth for Clarissa. We do get introduce to Tyson Percy half-brother, but it minimizes Percy struggle being the only kid in of Poseidon and in the fight with the cyclops he had barely any importance to the fight also this means the Poseidon broke the taboo again (Hades on top).

this book was a 4/10 for me at least there’s mixed reviews

4.The Titians Curse

I’d say that this had potential because of the characters he introduced like Nico, Thailia even though we saw her last book at the Zoe, Bianca and Paul. You may be asking Paul? Who’s Paul? He is Percy’s step I’m and im glad we got his introduction in this story now we get to see Percy have somewhat of a normal life but let’s get into the summary.

So, we start with Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Thalia going to a school to help out 2 students Nico and Bianca and bring them to camp but there are monsters after them so Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia along with some of Artemis warriors fight them while Grover get Nico and Bianca to safety. During the fight Annabeth gets kidnapped and Thailia, who mind you was also there, blames Percy for her kidnapping. Percy talks to the hunter hoping for help to get her back but he finds out that Artemis has been captured and most likely by the same people.

Bianca talks to the hunters about her joining them which to me doesn’t make sense because that would mean leaving Nico her brother behind but that doesn’t matter right now because after this dialogue Apollo comes in to give them all a ride back to camp, they rest come back they have a prophecy.

  1. Five shall go west to the goddess in chains,
  2. One shall be lost in the land without rain,
  3. The bane of Olympus shows the trail,
  4. Campers and Hunters combined prevail,
  5. The Titan’s curse must one withstand,
  6. And one shall perish by a parent’s hand.

So, they chose to take Zoe. I can understand Thalia I can understand Grover I can also understand that but Bianca? Why her over everyone, even Percy who at this point already battled a god and legendary Monsters, just to choose the girl with no experience and a nerdy brother who knows more about mythology than you. Anyway, the four of them go while Percy follows behind discreetly with a sea creature named Bessie after having dreams about the general. He follows them to Washington DC where he spots Luke following them, so he tells them, and they get mad at him (not Grover though) for following them. They then get attacked by some zombies. Zoe allows Percy to join making it 5 now.

They get to New Mexico where they find a junkyard but before this Aphrodite along with Ares tells him to not pick anything up. Listen to me they said do not pick anything up. Guess what Bianca picks up a figurine she wanted to give to her brother before she leaves him for most likely forever is killed by Talos which breaks the promise to Nico to keep her safe. I blame 2 people and 2 only Zoe and Bianca cause why would you bring an inexperienced first day hunter with you on a dangerous quest and why would you do something so stupid on a dangerous quest and why would she bother giving Nico anything you’re already leaving him behind when you’ve been with him for a hundred years.

After this happened Percy sad since he broke his promise to Nico, but they continue on to San Francisco at the hoover dam where they meet Bessie again and it turns out she has the power to overthrow the gods a manticore who is a servant to Kronos comes almost convince Thalia to join him, but she relents they call Mr. D he comes takes out the manticore.

They are then taken to Olympus where the gods contemplate killing Thalia and Percy since they have the potential to destroy Olympus. So, Thalia decides to become a hunter for Artemis, so she won’t grow up to be 16 while Percy convinces them that he won’t destroy Olympus. Flash forward they get into a fight with Atlas, and they see Annabeth holding the sky with a white streak in her hair. Atlas is also Zoe’s father, so they beat him, make him hold up the sky again and Zoe dies fighting her father, so Artemis makes her a constellation to honor her. They head back to the camp and the relationship between Percy and Annabeth grows and Nico hates Percy since he didn’t keep his promise to keep Bianca safe and it’s revealed that he is the son of Hades in the end.

The end.

5/10

The only reason this rating is so low is that the pacing was very slow, and the character dynamics were terrible compared to the first book.

Part 2 coming soon

The reality of science

Science is a truly wonderful thing and has benefitted society and humanity itself in many unimaginable ways. These benefits though require a quite high cost, and that cost is paid in lives. Examples of this can be found all over the world but today we are going to touch on areas such as Germany, Russia and the United States of America. First on the chopping block is Germany where we can take a look back to the date March 22,1933 this is when the first concentration camp of World War 2 opened though this camp was at first used for political prisoners it would one day become just like all the other camps. Who contained doctors who would discover new medical discoveries in inhumane ways. Topics pertaining to science and medical effects on the human body that were discovered as a result of these camps are things such as how low of temperatures the human body can endure before succumbing to hypothermia.  They also are the gold standard of recording high altitude exposure results as today there will be no candidates for such studies. They also were the very early inventors or users of what is known commonly today as “euthanasia” and on top of this no Nazi German physicians of this time can claim they didn’t realize what they were doing was wrong as Germany was the first country in the world to mandate and implement an ethics class in every medical school.

These are some physical tests done on humans though after enduring outside factors while horrors committed by America were arguably one of the most inhumane and this is not touching on the topic of what they did to prisoners but instead the effects of their creations. These creations were both used and destroyed the same day they were deployed one occurring on August 6th and the other on August 9th in 1945. We simply know those dates today as the days that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings took place. This bombing was approved and executed by the 509th composite group and known as the Manhattan project which is a whole subject on its own. This group’s sole purpose though was to research and Soley create the first atomic weapon, and they achieved this goal quite well. These bombs were named “Little Boy” and “fat man” and are the bombs that killed around 246,000 people. On top of that those murdered were both civilians, soldiers, and even our own soldiers who were being held as prisoners of war. These bombs unveiled new medical discoveries as doctors had no choice other than to learn how large amounts of radiation affects the human body. They learned how it decomposes the body at a rapid pace if the body was exposed to a high enough dosage and even if it didn’t directly affect you and you were to have a spouse exposed to radiation or even came into contact with it accidentally the affects could still be devastating. From cancer cells suddenly occurring a few years down the road with no family history of it to giving birth and the child suffering serious deformities as much as the bombings were horrifying the after affects will forever be a reason why medical and industrial science progressed as fast as it did.

Our next discussion however was performed by Russia’s scientist who belonged to the Soviet Union, and they did it directly and deliberately to learn the most effective ways to kill people via poisonings most of these were destroyed and discontinued for obvious reasons. Some even had samples of them taken by the United States to see if they could be used usefully but one of their most deadly yet useless poisons was created during this period too. This was why the poison Novichok came into existence it is a nerve agent that affects the heart and slows it while also paralyzing the muscles that we use to breathe and almost always when being used its purpose is to kill as it was developed to be used for warfare and for undetected kills. Novichok is also specifically the topic I’m touching on because although it’s known for one purpose it is still an exception because they were never declared while most nerve agents became restricted during the “1997 chemical weapons convention” and most importantly being included because although it was created for harm it has only successfully killed one person thankfully and is very hard for the public to access.

What the Car?

The Cars movies have been famous for the entirety of my childhood. But I’ve got some questions…

Before I get into my questions, I should do a brief recap and overview of the movies. The first and third movie focused more on the racing aspect more than anything. They were all about beating the competition and getting to the checkered flag first. The second movie involved spies, poisonous petrol, and required a high IQ to understand all of the components together.

These innocent smiles don’t fool me as I am curious as to what secrets are hiding under the hoods of these cars. In my notes app for over a year, I have had the questions “Is car insurance just life insurance for cars in the Cars Movie franchise?” “In their will, do they put their spare tire in their will?”. These are the questions I have that I want answered. Also, where are their engines if their mouths are in the front of the body of the car? And if in the first movie, why do they only eat/drink gas and then in the second movie why does Mater eat pistachio ice cream (wasabi)?

The questions I have for movies like this one are endless. How are the cars produced? Are they produced in factories? How are cars in this universe considered older than others? Why is Mater not getting older and weaker like the other cars?

Under the Hood

In the second movie, we are shown under the hood of a “lemon” car.

This is the bit that confuses me. Where are their mouths? If the oil they consume goes into their mouths, where is the tubing/”esophagus” required to perform the action that they are appearing to be doing? Another thing that I have a question about would be what do they do with cars that can no longer function? How do they decide that? One day they can just no longer run? Could Doc one day no longer start his engine and drive out of his shop? Did they scrap his body for parts? Who are they? I have so many questions and no answers.

How are the buildings in the Cars universe built? Who is cooking the food seen throughout the movies? What currency are the cars using? Who maintains the roads? Why didn’t Radiator Springs already have a department for that if they were so busy before? Why do the cars have doors? Where are the engine noises for half of the movie? Why do the cars need a school bus (as seen in Cars 3)? Are there humans that are purposefully not shown to the viewers to keep the simplicity of the importance of racing? I believe there are humans who work to keep the cars running and created. Maybe this world is like the Toy Story of Cars. Don’t get me started on planes.
