So guys, like the title says, I have a lack of ideas for my blogs.
I didn’t expect this day to come so soon, but it was bound to happen eventually.
And I hate it.
Lacking ideas is the closest I’ll ever get to my own personal hell. The fact that I can’t just whip something up in 20 minutes that I’m proud of is genuine torture.
Now, I know that this is far from just a me thing. I can guarantee that anyone who has ever written in any capacity has experienced that dreadful lack of a spark.
There are many causes for this, but I believe this came about because I haven’t really been writing lately… Like, I write daily, but that doesn’t mean I continue to write after that or are even proud of my daily practice.
The closest I’ve gotten to writing for leisure recently was at coffee house when I had some sort of epiphany and scribbled a few lines on the back of a poster (which has not been pursued past that even though I believe it would make for a very nice poem about my childhood).
Getting real vulnerable here, I’m currently feeling a lack of pride in my work. Not in a “oh I suck I’ll never be good enough way,” but in a “I am having some of the worst writer’s block of the semester right now,” which is saying a lot.
I’ll admit that even as I’m writing this right now, I’m only doing it for the deadline. I hate that a grade is the only reason I’m writing right now, and I almost never get into that state, but it’s the unsavory truth.
Writing is hard sometimes.
It isn’t always a continuous flow.
Which, we’re all writers here, and I know I’m just preaching to the choir or whatever, but these are the thoughts I’m having at the moment and all I can really do is share them with you all or I’ll sulk and feel worse about my inability to write at the moment.
I guess what I’m trying to say in my own scrambled way is that it is ok to hit a block. It is ok to not necessarily be proud of your work. That work you push into the dust covered corner of a folder is the most important part of writing. That work is perseverance, and it’s the only way to become better in your art.
writers block is the worst thing ever for literary students i swear. the thing i find funny about this is you being able to write about not being able to write.
Bro that is sooooo valid. I hate it because I know there are things I love and I could rant about all day, but when it comes to writing a blog my mind goes absolutly blank. It’s so annoying.
yessss this has happened to me and i agree!! it’s okay to hit these blocks even though they’re extremely frustrating and the last thing wanted when one already has a full schedule and stuff to write is drawing a blank and not having anything to write about…not fun, not cool, sometimes i wish i could reach in my scalp, grab my brain, take it out, hit a hard reset, and plop it back in. but thank you for sharing and i’m glad i was able to contribute a writing utensil to your coffee house epiphany 🙂
you put this feeling into words like super well. it took me so long to come up with ANYTHING to write for this weeks blog and I had to settle on the only thing I already knew information about instead of something like. creative. x[
you should watch movies and shows or look at art. for me it helps spark somethings. seeing a scene in a movie that i really enjoy alway makes me think about it but with my own characters in my own world. or you could do what ive done for this blog and just make it a fake out.
