The Bench Outside: A Lesson on Legacy

The morning was grey, and the clouds sat forlornly, dangling just barely above our heads, waiting to weep out all their sorrows and soak them deeply into our skin. The August fog clung stickily to my clothing, but still, I sat. I write about this bench far too often, but never have I described its individual beauty. It is black, and metal, and worn in the center where so many sat before me. It is situated perpendicularly to the nearest building, and not quite parallel to the street that it watches, day after day, somehow never growing dreary of the same ole cars cruising routinely in its view. There is a scuff mark on the right armrest – I remember it vividly – and if you place your elbow on it and angle your back just right, you will be able to find sleep-like comfort in the embrace of the antique seat. In no other place have I learned so many lessons as I have while sitting on this bench.  It is so integral to so many of my memories that it almost ought to have a name. I have thought about this frequently, but never have I applied the idea. But surely, surely this emblem of wisdom should have some sort of legacy!

That morning, the one that was grey and damp and sorrowful, I pondered how I could commemorate this bench and all the significance that it possesses, and this thought process posed a question: What is a legacy?

In The Myth of Sisyphus, Albert Camus explores the idea of the repetition of life. He uses Sisyphus (a character from Greek mythology who was cursed to eternally push a boulder up a cliff and watch it fall again) to signify that life is just a cycle of the same mundane things happening over and over again. If this is true, and life is redundant and predictable and unsatisfying, then what is the point? What is the purpose of living the same events over, and over, and over again, knowing that at the end of the day, the boulder will come falling right back down the hill? Camus stated that if you choose to “imagine Sisyphus happy,” then you will find your answer.

Sitting on the bench once again, I was reminded of this philosophy. I repeatedly sit in the same spot, in the same position, looking at the same scenery. Even the time of day, the shadows, and often the weather stay consistent. Nevertheless, the whole routine feels so significant and important to me. I always come up with new stories, ponder new ideas, celebrate new revelations. Therefore, I become the happy Sisyphus. I think that this is legacy – not doing something heroic or out of the ordinary, but finding significance and value in simplicity, and sharing this wisdom with others. In a way, this blog is my legacy. My poetry is my legacy. Every person I share my thoughts with is part of my legacy. As for the bench? The bench’s legacy is in its scuff marks, its scratches, and the imprints it makes in the dirt on which it stands. It’s in every photograph that it’s featured in, every poet that wrote their stories while seated on it, every bird that has landed on its back, and every memory recorded in its presence. It seems small. It seems common. It seems insignificant. But this is legacy: the uniqueness one has the audacity to emit in spite of all of the mundaneness of life.

Frog Blog: Funky Frogs!

Frogbloginning (Frog-blog-beginning)

FROGS. The absolute peak of superiority. The most wonderful creatures in existence. The most goofy little guys who can look like they don’t have a singular braincell behind those eyes, but at the same time they look like they’re reading your very soul and they know your darkest secrets. They are SO CUTE. The way they hop around, the way they’re shaped, the way they’re EVERYTHING. They are insanely cool and adorable and I LOVE THEM. I’ve decided to share some cool frog species! Before we get into that, though, here’s something to note:

Do NOT pick up frogs with bare hands. I know how tempting it is, but don’t! See, frogs have semi-permeable skin, which means they absorb things, like oxygen, through their skin. When you pick up a frog, the oils on your hands are absorbed. These oils can harm a frog, so if you really need to hold a frog, make sure you wear gloves! (Source) Make sure to tell other people as well; unfortunately, a lot of people don’t know this information. Now, let us expand our frog knowledge horizon! Our first little meepy to look at is… drumroll please…

The Titicaca Water Frog! (Telmatobius culeus)

(Source 1) (Source 2)

Titicaca frogs, like all frogs, are amazing. They are only native to Lake Titicaca, and unfortunately, they are critically endangered. Their faces look like the ‘:3emoticon, they’re one of the largest water frogs alive, and they live their entire lives underwater! Yes, they do have lungs, but said lungs are much smaller than you would expect. Titicaca water frogs instead respire through their baggy, folded skin! These frogs will even do ‘push-ups’ underwater to increase the water flowing over their skin, allowing it to absorb more oxygen. What amazing little creatures!

The Wood Frog! (Lithobates sylvaticus)

(Source 1) (Source 2) (Source 3)

Oh, glorious wood frogs. Wood frogs are the only frogs that live north of the arctic circle, which basically means they live in very cold temperatures! As such, they’ve developed an amazing way to combat the cold- wood frogs freeze themselves during hibernation. You heard that right. 35% to 45% of a wood frog’s body might turn to ice when they freeze. The outsides of cells and organs freeze over, ice forms between skin and muscles, and the frog’s breathing, heartbeat, and muscle movement all cease. Once the ice thaws, though, wood frogs hop right back up on their feet, alive! This is possible because the insides of their cells and organs are protected by large amounts of glucose, making it so only the outsides of cells and organs freeze! How absolutely incredible is that?

The Hairy Frog! (Trichobatrachus robustus)

(Source 1)

Hairy frogs are also known as wolverine frogs and horror frogs! Honestly, the last two names are more fitting, as the hairy frog doesn’t actually have hair. The ‘hair’ seen in the picture above are actually filaments of skin that help these frogs breathe more, and they’re only present in males during breeding season! But is a name like ‘horror frog’ really more accurate? To me, yes, and I say that positively. These guys are gruesome in an awesome way- they push their hooked bones out through their skin to make claws! These claws aren’t true claws as they’re made of bone, but that just makes it even cooler.

Frogblogending (Frog-blog-ending)

That is the end of this round of frogs! I hope you enjoyed and learned something new. There’s tons of cool frog species out there, so there very well might be another frog blog in the future! Remember to be nice to frogs, and goodbye!

Favorite Character Archetypes: Good Guy with a Dark Past.

Today, I want to talk about one of my favorite character “archetypes”, put in quotes because I’m not exactly sure if this can be defined as one but I have no other word for it.

One of my favorites would be “Good Guy with a Dark Past”. Now I will define what this archetype means to me specifically, being that guy that the reader/viewer is introduced as this loveable, occasionally nerdy character but as we proceed through the story, we learn of the characters past either in a flashback or that past affecting the characters present. The after we’re introduced to this character’s past, we slowly see parts of who that character once was, especially when their loved ones are at risk.

An example of this archetype is Rupert Giles, often just called Giles from, Suprise Suprise Buffy the Vampire Slayer(this isn’t going to be last time I talk about this show, fair warning).

Rupert Giles serves as a “watcher” for Buffy and as the show continues, he ultimately gets the title of father figure.

Rupert at the age we meet him appears to be highly intelligent and kind of a stick in the mud. But little do we know he has a history of being quite the opposite. The first time I feel we get a glimpse of this is in “The Dark Age” Season 2 Episode 8.

In the recap of this episode I will be leaving certain details not pertaining to Giles or his story out as they aren’t relevant in this, but I highly recommend checking out the episode, the whole show in general.

The episode begins with the shot of a man trying to get into the school’s library to see Giles then he proceeds to get strangled by supernatural looking woman who turns into a puddle of green slime after killing him. Later on in the episode Giles and Buffy make a plan to meet at the hospital later on that night as there will be a blood delivery that is bound to attract vamps. Later Giles heads to the library after being asked to a date by Jenny Calendar, the schools computer teacher. When he gets to the library, he is confronted by a detective who informs him that the man who was murdered in the beginning of the episode had Giles’ address on him.  They have Giles identify the corpse whom he identifies as an old friend of his, when asked about the tattoo on his friend he claims to not be able to recognize it. This whole debacle causes Giles to forget about his plans with Buffy, which causes Buffy to worry and attempt to check on Giles who shoos her away clearly inebriated. After sending her away Giles attempts to call and check on a friend in London ultimately finding out she has also passed away. He proceeds to cross her name off a list of names (all of which are also crossed off). In his concentration he rolls his sleeves up revealing the same tattoo that he claimed not to be able to recognize earlier in the episodes.  The shot cuts to the previously dead friend, Phillip seemingly resurrects in morgue escaping with flashing eyes.

The next day Buffy attempts to confront Giles in the Library, in there she finds Ethan, a man she has a less than positive past with this is the first time the “Mark of Eyghon” is mentioned, followed by Giles informing Buffy of impending danger and immediately after a resurrected Phillip enters. After some brief combat “Phillip” turns into green goo, some of which gets onto an unconscious Jenny, who awakes with flashing eyes before being ushered off by Giles who didn’t notice. At their house there’s some back and forth, which includes some very off-putting flirting when you consider the depth of the situation before Eyghon ultimately reveals that he has possessed Jenny.  After Buffy comes in the possessed Jenny flees. This is when Giles provides some clarity about the whole situation, Giles was friends with some not so responsible people who used Eyghon’s possession as a sort of high. This fun quickly come to an end when Eyghon killed one of the people he was possessing. And now the demon was on a murderous rampage attempting to kill anyone who was once a part of the group.-End of Summary.

Thats where I’m capping the summary for brevity and in an attempt to not fully spoil it.

But Giles’ past doesn’t just cap there, this episode was also the first time we heard him referred to as “Ripper”, a name he adopted in his youth while dabbling in dark magics. We get a taste of the “Ripper’s” over all personality in “Band Candy” Season 3 Episode 6, which overall synopsis has to do with this possessed candy that turns fully responsible adults into their teenage selves. This episode we see the “Ripper” as a rebellious law-breaking teenager with a band(called Wretched, and Giles is actually a beautiful singer, but that’s neither here nor there).

This wild past highly contrasts when compared to his studious adult ways. That is until you see we him defend those he loves or scolds them. I think we see this when he threatens the principal in Buffy’s honor. Or when we see him kill Ben, a human(a big thing given the fact that Buffy won’t even kill a human) to ensure the protection of humanity. Or Interrogate Glory’s minions. Or possibly when we see him scold Willow about using dark magics and then dual with her when she goes all Dark Willow. Or even his bouts with Ethan.

No number of words from me can fully detail what a phenomenal character Giles is in my opinion. He definitely is one my favorite characters ever by far.

Rupert Giles

Treasure

In the heart of Athens, amidst the bustling city streets and hidden alleyways, there lived a man named Dimitri. He was a man of many titles, but the most notorious one was whispered in the shadows: Dimitri was the ruthless boss of the Greek mafia. His empire thrived on secrets, betrayals, and power.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Dimitri found himself in a dimly lit café. Smoke lingered in the air, and the sound of old Greek ballads played softly in the background. It was here that he laid eyes on her for the first time. Her name was Elena, and she was a vision of beauty that seemed out of place in the gritty underworld he inhabited.

Elena was a talented pianist who played haunting melodies, capturing the attention of everyone in the café. Her eyes, a mesmerizing shade of emerald green, held a hint of sadness that intrigued Dimitri. Her music spoke to him in ways he could never have imagined.

Weeks passed, and Dimitri couldn’t stay away from that café. He became a silent patron, watching Elena from afar as she poured her soul into the piano keys. One fateful night, their eyes finally met, and the world seemed to stop. In that moment, he knew he had to make her his, no matter the cost.

Approaching her proved to be a daunting task. Elena was wary of the dangerous allure Dimitri exuded. She knew nothing of his dark world, his power, or the secrets he kept hidden. Yet, he was relentless in his pursuit. He showered her with gifts, attended every one of her performances, and slowly chipped away at the walls she had built around her heart.

As the seasons changed, so did Elena’s feelings. She fell in love with Dimitri, unaware of the dangerous path she was treading. Dimitri, too, found himself falling deeper in love than he had ever imagined. He revealed his true identity to her, a revelation that should have driven her away, but instead, it brought them closer.

Elena’s decision to stay with Dimitri changed her life forever. She willingly entered his world, not as a victim, but as a partner. With her by his side, Dimitri’s empire became stronger than ever before. Elena’s beauty masked her fierce intelligence and cunning. She became his most trusted advisor, and together, they ruled the Greek mafia with a unique blend of power and passion.

Their love was a force to be reckoned with, a love that defied the odds and challenged the very foundations of the criminal underworld. Dimitri, the ruthless mafia boss, was transformed by the love of a woman who had once been a stranger but had become the center of his universe.

But their love story was not without its trials. Rival gangs sought to exploit their weakness, and betrayal lurked around every corner. Dimitri and Elena fought together, forging a bond that could not be broken. In the end, their love proved stronger than the darkest forces that threatened them.

In the heart of Athens, amidst the chaos of their dangerous world, Dimitri and Elena found a love that was both their salvation and their downfall. It was a love story that would be whispered in the shadows for generations to come, a tale of a mafia boss who found his greatest treasure in the arms of the woman he loved.

Let’s Talk About Fear

Hello lovelies, I have a question for you.

Is there something out there in the big scary world that holds your deepest, darkest, waking fear?                                                                                                                  Yes?   Then be warned while reading this post because you might come across some of it.                                                                                                                                          No?   Then read this post and see the nightmares that I have uncovered.

When I was younger my teachers used to ask, “Do you have a phobia?”   I used to always say “Yes of course!  I’m scared of spiders,” but never thought about if that was actually a phobia.
I mean, I am scared of spiders and snakes a little bit, but not so much because I can kill them.  Then I start thinking to myself, is that really a phobia?   Well, what is a phobia exactly?

The dictionary says: Phobia –

pho·bi·a

[ˈfōbēə]

NOUN

  • an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something:
“He had a phobia about being under water” · “a phobia of germs” · “a snake phobia.”

If you go by the definition a phobia isn’t something you’re scared of, it’s something you’re terrified of.  It’s a fear that doesn’t even allow you to think straight.   With that, I’m going to discuss a couple of Phobias that interest me, and I decided to research them because I wanted to learn some of the reasons why people fear certain things.

1) Agoraphobia: Fear of Open Space or Crowds

Agoraphobia, I can see why this is a thing.  Sometimes places that are filled with tons of people can be pretty overwhelming.   I mean think of the types of scenarios.  There could be killer clowns hidden amongst all of those faces, but you wouldn’t know because there are too many people.  Also, I know someone who hates places where there are a lot of entries for bad people to get through and it’s easy for them to get mixed in the crowd.  Babies can have a minor fear of a lot of people because they can get easily lost among the crowd and don’t know how to go through all of the bodies of people. So, for this to be an extreme fear is understandable.  When researching why this is a common fear in society the causes of it come from anxiety of public places and environmental experiences of panic attacks.   Symptoms can be identified as shallow breathing, sweaty palms, and panic attacks.  This fear is real and affects a great amount of civilization, this interested me because a lot of people have it.

2) Genuphobia: Fear of Knees

Genuphobia, all I have to say is, who is out here scared of knees?  I’m not making fun of it; this is most likely genuine which is why I’m interested in the reasons for it.                                                                                                                               When thinking about it, someone has to be going through it by looking at their knees and being frightened by them.   For people who have knees (because some people are unfortunate to not have any legs) use them every day to walk, play soccer, do squats, jump rope, etc. and will most likely struggle without knees.  This is why I researched and read some articles for the background of this fear.   An article I found by Lisa Fritscher states “Some people are afraid only of seeing uncovered knees in person, while others are afraid of bare knees even on film. People with this phobia may be afraid of all knees or only their own. Some people are actually scared of kneeling.”  Which to me is strange but it is rare; so, someone out there must have their reason. The same article says a main cause is personal trauma, someone could have been hurt in an accident where they almost lost their knees or saw someone else, they were close to lose their knees.   Another cause could be traced from highly religious or cultural upbringings.  There’s nothing wrong with that, once you tell me it’s because of your beliefs I fully understand, you do you.                                                                                                  The people with this phobia cope by averting their eyes away from people or their knees.  People who have it more severe are recommended to a therapist to get better treatment to cope.                                                                                                          I can’t see myself having this phobia, but I will show respect towards those who do.  Also, here’s the link to explore the religion part of the phobia.

3)Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia: Fear of Long Words

I’m not even going to repeat this one, it’s way too long to type out.                            The fear of words with too many unnecessary letters is a rare fear in society.  There could be many reasons for why someone would adapt this fear that might sound like a good reason to some but if it doesn’t, as long as it doesn’t bother you, we shouldn’t make fun of the people who are frightened of words like  supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.                                                                                          There are many sides to having this fear.  People just don’t have to be scared of the word itself, they can be scared of how many syllables the word has, some might be scared of the word because they never saw it or discovered it.   In other actions a person may be scared of words that are longer in length and look squished together.

In my view, these words are intimidating and too clunky.  The letters just kind of blend together and look like you fell asleep on your keyboard.  It seems like someone just typed gibberish.
I mean if someone asks me to read this word aloud for them, I’m going to run away screaming.  Especially if I’m put on spot.                                                                       Some things you might do with having this fear is avoid reading books, lack on English bases Academics and avoid talking with new words you don’t understand or want to understand.

Symptoms of it may include:

Abdominal pain

Chest Pain

Nausea

Dizziness

Lightheadedness

Which will likely occur in front of these words.

Treatment for it could be going to therapy.   Taking anxiety medication, SSRIs for example and getting Psychotherapy treatment.                                                   While researching this I found that there were other factors that caused the development of this fear.  One of those causes being behavioral inhibition, some might have that being anger issues.

You can read more about right here: Fear of Long Words: Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia (verywellmind.com)

It was interesting reading about different fears and anxieties in society.   I’m more informed about how people cope with things that may be strange or weird to me or you, daily.

It’s best to remember to respect people who have certain fears different from ours and to have their backs about it.  Also, if you don’t mind, comment on any of your fears.

Good day 🙂

Overthinking. (Is that a good title?)

Do you guys overthink much?
For me, Overthinking is like a straitjacket, or one of those Chinese finger traps.

The more I try to get away from it, the more trapped I get.
I start replaying scenarios over and over in my head. Constantly.

Should I have said this? Should I have done that?

What would have happened if I did that?

Sometimes all these thoughts crawling around in my head feel like ants.

It’s sort of a blessing and a curse at the same time though. On one hand, I think of multiple scenarios that could go wrong. And if one of them comes up, I feel much more prepared then if I hadn’t thought of it. But at the same time, overthinking has caused me to keep my mouth shut more than once.

I remember overthinking about the stupidest of things.

One time someone waved in my direction, I smiled and waved back. And then I realized that they weren’t waving at me, but at someone behind me. I for real spent the next two or more days with that scenario in my head. Like a broken record player. But at the same time, when you overthink about what might happen, and that something does happen, doesn’t it feel like a sort of relief.
Like, “Ok I’m prepared for this.” and you have that pre-generated response.
I swear it’s even worse for texting. If I’m texting someone, and I get a message saying something like “ok, sure”. I completely dissect that message.

“Was that an ‘Im tired of talking to you ok sure’?”

“Was that an ‘I don’t care about this topic ok sure’?”

“What if it was a normal ok sure and if I ask about it that will just make them more annoyed?”

As much as it sucks to overthink the smallest of things, it’s probably helped me out more often than not.

Sometimes I wish I could turn my mind off, and kind of just, watch everything play out.
Sorry this post is kind of all over the place.

The Warden

It’s been a couple years since you played Minecraft, but hey, you bought the game. What do you wanna do first?

Mine? Okay!

Let’s go down a couple Y levels.

You’ve mined below stone into deep slate at this point. It’s taken you a while, but you’re not very afraid. It’s still the same experience; you’ve been going through caves and making tunnels, but then you start to find these blue blocks. They’re really dark and look like a fungus, it must be a new update. You mine through. They drop a lot of XP. Sweet!

The entire area is shrouded in dark blue. I’d watch my step if I were you.

You take a couple careless steps forward. Nothing out of the ordinary.

You hear a sound you’ve never heard before to your left. What?

You don’t see what activated it, so you keep exploring. He’s not here yet.

You don’t hear the sound again, thankfully, and eventually get bored, take your XP and leave. You might come back later.

Congratulations! You’ve just avoided an encounter with The Warden! Presumably, if you would’ve run into it, The Warden would’ve immediately killed you and you’d lose all your stuff, but I’m here to explain how to not make that happen.

To preface, The Warden spawns in deep dark biomes, approximately anywhere below Y Level 0 and under a mountain. It has two types of attacks, ranged, and upfront. Ranged is what usually kills you.

When you are confronted with The Warden, you will notice cannot see players, only hear them, so any noise you make is to your detriment. If he does not find anything, he will start sniffing the air, and any nearby mobs, (including you,) he charges on sight.

The Warden doesn’t spawn the same way the Dragon or the Wither does. It’s invited. He spawns at the sound of four sculk shriekers, and if you’re not careful and counting for shrieks, you’re going to set it off. The sculk shriekers react to another block, sculk sensors, who vibrate if they detect noise or lots of movement, same as the Warden. Your goal is not those guys however, your goal should be the shriekers. Break them as quickly and as quietly as possible. Both blocks are going to be scattered all over the place, but they will be in range. You do not want to be loud.

By not setting off a shrieker, you should be able to get around the deep dark without much hassle.

But if you do manage to set off a shrieker four times, well.

You have 6 seconds to run.

Development of Artistic Ideologies through the Years

So, this week I was kind of at a loss for what I even wanted to talk about. I brainstormed about speaking about philosophers that I’ve been reading up on lately. I was thinking of just writing a 400-word monologue, honestly, I was contemplating just going on a giant tangent on Goya and his black paintings, but I think I found something to talk about that has a little bit of all those aspects. That being a show called “Downtown,” and of course if you have heard of this show before then you would be skeptical. “How could something that presents itself so vulgar, plagued with such simplicity, be able to appeal to deep philosophical ideologies”. That can be answered when you look within the subtext of the show itself.

The show Downtown by MTV surrounds our protagonist Alex, a 22-year-old man who works at a printing press, living in New York City. The largest factor that contributes to the differentiation between its meaning and its outward presentation is the persistent theme of sex, drugs, and crime. Yet it is important that these themes are a part of the show because it is what brings emphasis to the importance to both the underlying themes as well as the personality of Alex. Alex is not the same as other characters in that show, he seems to be more sheltered and less willing to go out and expose himself to the culture that was the late 1990s. However, there are breaks in his original character that serve as very important aspects of the way the show approaches certain issues and people’s reaction to them. For example, in season one episode four, “insomnia”, Alex loses his ability to sleep for two days, and on the third night he has become someone that is almost unrecognizable. This episode, in my opinion, aligns almost perfectly with Goya descent into artistic madness. The lack of something so rudimentary in the human mind can change a person so drastically.

Another way that I think that he relates to Goya was the way that neither of them seemed to adapt very well to the ever-changing landscape of the modern world. Goya, once a well renowned imperial artist now was nothing but an old man that never left his home. The governmental and social changes of the world caught up with Goya, and instead of letting them overtake him he cut himself off. That’s where he created his final pieces, within the confines of his own reaction to things that he had no control over. Alex does the same thing, attempting to isolate himself from a world in which he is a prisoner in.

I think that this is just one of the many examples of ways that modern and historical art and media still portray similar ideologies. Even throughout the passage of time we are able to keep ideas relevant.

Pasta Wars

When I was younger I used to be completely obsessed with everything Garfield. I remember the TV we had up until I was about five years old was one of those big box TV’s with the built- in VHS tape player. I don’t remember what happened to it but I do remember getting a big flat screen TV at Sam’s Club before starting Kindergarten. When we got the new TV, we also got Netflix. I remember the first time I went on Netflix my dad helped me set up a kids account and together we scrolled through the shows. The first show I saw that caught my attention was this picture of an orange tabby cat with black stripes eating lasagna and a yellow-tan dog with long brown ears and a brown spot on his side. As soon as I saw that picture I knew I wanted to watch the show. I told my dad to press play on The Garfield Show so he did. I immediately loved the show. The first episode was called “Pasta Wars” and it showed Garfield’s birthday. Instead of Garfield having a cake, he had lasagna. As Garfield had finished scarfing down his lasagna, he noticed that he was missing one. He had one square of lasagna for each year of his age. He called over John, his owner, and signaled that one of the squares was missing. John immediately started freaking out and ran to the kitchen to make another square of lasagna but he didn’t have enough ingredients so he had to run to the store. Garfield decided to take a nap while John was gone and sometime during that nap Garfield woke up to a plate of lasagna. He was overly joyed and went to eat the lasagna but the lasagna begged him not to eat it. Garfield was so confused and probably a little bit scared too. The lasagna used this to its advantage and jumped out of the way and ran off. Garfield, of course, thought he was hallucinating so he went to his bed to hide under the covers. While Garfield was hiding, Odie went outside to investigate. He looked into a bush and saw the Space Lasagna talking into something. Odie immediately rushed inside to where Garfield was to let him know he wasn’t crazy and the Space Lasagna was real. When Garfield gets up to go check, he sees that there’s more Space Lasagna and freaks out and hides in their garage leaving Odie to fend for himself. The Space Lasagna crawl into the house using the doggie door and tie Odie up and leave him as they search the house for the fat orange cat, their enemy. While the Space Lasagna are looking for Garfield upstairs, Garfield gathers up the courage to exit the garage and untie Odie. After untying Odie, Garfield goes upstairs to where the Space Lasagna are and confronts them. The Space Lasagna are already terrified because they stumbled across John’s computer playing an edited six hour video of Garfield eating lasagna nonstop. When Garfield sees the Space Lasagna, he confronts them and they scream and run away to their spaceship leaving Garfield and Odie very confused. As Garfield and Odie follow the Space Lasagna outside, they find that they were too late as they watch the Space Lasagna fleeing Earth in fear of the fat orange beast.

It’s been over a decade since I’ve seen this episode so I’m sure I’ve gotten a few details wrong but I’ve remembered most of it. As I finish writing this blog in my room, I look up and see a sign that I got when I was in 6th grade, back when I was still obsessed with Garfield.
