Writing is my way of expression (along with drawing and listening to music). I write because it’s what I do. I picked up my pencil and decided to put “creative writing” on my schedule. After that it was history. 

For as long as I can remember I have written stories. I have progressed a lot. I was put into creative writing class at my old school. I took it for two years (my 7th and 8th grade years). I learned and grew through my writing. My teacher believed in me. This in turn helped me to believe in myself. When I didn’t believe in myself or like my stories, she did. She showed me how to write. She introduced me to writing poetry and helped me understand how to write a poem. She showed me how to write in a way others could understand not just me. 

I write like I speak, or how I speak in my head. I am sometimes not very understandable due to this, but she helped me to realize this. She helped me to fix my errors. She helped me enter and win my first writing contest. 

So, when I write I think of her.

I write how I think. I write my thoughts. I write to clear my head. I write to clear my head of what others think. I write to tell stories. To tell my story. To tell others stories. I write to say what I can’t say out loud. 

I write to have an output. I heard someone (I can’t remember who) say we all have outputs and it’s true. We all have output mine just happen to be writing and drawing. We all have outputs due to how much we have input into our brain. Due to technology, we get a lottttttttt more input than output and it overloads our brain making it harder to think creatively.

A lot of people think writing is boring, exhausting, a waste of time, or even just horrible. This is not the case for me. I have heard how boring and horrible writing is my whole life and I have never really understood the hate that comes with writing. Writing is my release and it’s a great thing todo. It helps you think clearly and see things in your perspective or others. It is also historical in a way. You can read a story written by someone centuries ago and centuries from now people will read our stories. I say that but I don’t write for others I write for myself. I write because it’s what makes me happy.

I’m a really, really, REALLY! Big fan of The Witcher book series written by Andrzej Sapkowski and game produced by CD Projekt Red who helped create the Witcher Three, The Wild Hunt. However, something I’m not too happy about is the disregard to timeline, character development, and story in Netflix’s adaptation. 

Who is casting?  Who or what is the problem? 

A really big fan of the books was stared as the main protagonist, Geralt of Rivia. A Witcher on The Path. Some may know him from his previous role as Superman in Zack Snyders DC Superman films, Henry Cavill. 

Henry, like many with favorites to the games, was in big favor of the books. At first, everyone waited on the edge of their seats for the upcoming Witcher series that would release on December 20th, 2019, because of the highly anticipated casting of Henry being Geralt himself. However, the excitement did not last long. The sudden cause for future drastic disinterest and modestly, shame, for the series wasn’t because of Henry, it was really the opposite, it’s the producers. 

If you are unaware, Henry had a lot of back and forth with Zack Snyders superman for not entirely being true and accurate to Superman’s character in the comics, the same can be said for Geralt when the producers began changing and mixing things up that weren’t not only true to Geralt, but the entire story and sequences of events as well. 

I understand some movies and shows have budgets, and The Witcher series defiantly would have to have been a show. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, I’ll give you some story depth.

Who IS Geralt?

Geralt of Rivia is a man from the kingdom of Rivia but was taken as a child from his home by these monster and human hunters called Witcher’s, a male version of witch, sort of. Only boys at a young age were taken, and very few survived the mutation or training to become a Witcher, the mutation being the “rite of passage” sort of deal where if they survive, they are now destined to walk The Path, a brutal and dangerous journey for just any normal man. Going to town after town, contract after contract with no such thing as a retirement. (Geralt would also be the one to change this in the video game and maybe the books but not until the very end) 

Another really big difference that I’ve noticed is that they really switch up his love interests and their storylines. Theres so much I want to rant about, but I can’t incase anyone’s interested in reading the books and then playing the games. 

(The games and the books are heavily tied together, and the games stay very true to the books, making them more accurate and canonical. If you saw how many side quests and in-depth world exploration is, Netflix would have a very hard time keeping up with it all, so I understand not including EVERYTHING)

It’s been two and a half weeks since I started at MSA, (Mississippi School of the Arts). It’s very different from any other school I’ve been to, a big change, and with all changes come adjustment. I’ve spent my whole school life in private religious schools and now I’m going to a public arts school. It’s crazy, but a good crazy of course.

One thing I’ve had to get adjusted to is dress code. I’ve only ever worn uniforms so being able to wear my own clothes is something very new. I feel the biggest adjustment, however, is living an hour away from home. In a dorm, with two other girls. Thankfully I absolutely adore those two other girls. They’re two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet and I’m very lucky to have them.

I’ve also made quite a few new friends since coming here. I don’t think I’ve had a group of friends as big as mine now since middle school. I love my friends. They’re all ridiculously talented, smart, and very funny. You know those big belly laughs that seem rare sometimes? Well, when I’m with my friends they aren’t rare at all. I feel like I’m always laughing when I’m hanging around them.

Another big adjustment for me has been block schedules. I’ve only ever been on a traditional 1-7 period a day schedule. In the beginning I was very confused, but I really feel like I’ve got a handle on things now. Four periods- sorry, blocks a day, each an hour and thirty minutes. Right? Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve also had to get adjusted to sharing my work. I expected that I would have to share some pieces of course but expecting it doesn’t make it away less nerve wracking. I will say that everyone has been very kind and helpful during the workshops where we have to share. I reckon that the more I share my work with other people, the easier it’ll get…I hope.

Overall, I think that I’m adjusting quite well to being a student at MSA. I’ve gotten pretty used to the block schedule, the dress code, my roommates, the curfew, still getting used to sharing my work but we just went over that. I’m curious to see as the year goes on what other adjustments I’m going to have to make.

Updates every day, everywhere, we can’t get them all. Every second, every moment. All the time that would be too much information for one blog, but I can get some key things that happened recently to write about this week. Alot has happened celebrity’s life have something interesting going on just about every day. Although some people think seeing a celebrity getting a glass of water is the new of the year. Now let’s jump into some of the big things that happened recently with celebrities around the world! 

One, two, three, four, five at least. Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, an Amacan actress and singer. She is currently working on at least five movies/tv shows. While she has also played in about forty-two movies/shows during her acting career. Zendaya started her acting career when she was only fourteen years old, she made her debut as an actress for a series called, Shake It Up. She also has six siblings which most don’t know about since she doesn’t talk a lot about, but she has six half siblings from her father’s side. So, what got her into acting was early talent and family encouragement. 

Tick tock on the clock, here comes Taylor Swift. We got major news a countdown clock to 12:12 a.m. for her new debut for her 12th album. Crazy that it was announcement at 12:12 for her 12th album coincidence right I think not. Nothing withing Taylor is a coincidence. It was announced on “New Heights” a podcast. Were in our show girl era! Taylor announced on August 12th her new album “Life of a Showgirl”. While also there’s a countdown on her website that goes off Monday, August 18 at 2 p.m. ET. It was released that her album will be available until August 20th at 1:59 PM ET. 

 

Lil Wayne, on tour! 42 and he’s not letting age stop him from touring ever like ever. He is on “THA CARTER VI TOUR” touring doing 36 concerts across 24 places on this tour. Which is crazy to think because it was 25 yeas ago was his first EVER major tour! It was “The Cash Money/Ruff Ryders Tour” within the past twenty-five years Lil Wayne has made history I, his music. He has been on multiple tours since then and created a life. He has four children that mean the world to him. He has a 26-year-old daughter, 16-year-old son, and two 15-year-old boys.  

Updates, well there’s so many updates I can only give you some. I can’t give you it all because if I do I think you would be here all year. Some of my updates were just some basic news but it’s good to know about the background of some of the everyday artists we listen to/watch. It’s actually crazy but more and more news and being posted while I was writing this blog. I was jumping around trying to catch it all. Actually, Taylors countdown went off while I was writing this blog so that was an adventure. But I loved the crazy factor of this blog and would totally do it again!

I woke up this morning with “I Don’t Need Your Love” from Six stuck in my head, so now I’m going to show you guys my favorite musicals. 

#1: Ride The Cyclone: 

I know I know, it’s a basic #1 but it’s so fire. 

This musical follows the story of a group of choir kids who tragically died after rollercoaster carts derailed. They have to play a game in the afterlife which decides who gets to come back alive. 

Favorite song: It’s not a game (it’s just a ride)   

#2: 21 Chump Street:

It’s only like 15 minutes but it’s so freaking good… I swear it’s not just because of Anthony Ramos. 

This is about a boy named Justin falling in love with a girl named Niomi. She turns out to be an undercover cop, looking for drug dealers in schools. We get to see the lengths Justin goes to just to have Niomi 

Favorite song: The Money 

#3: Hamilton:

A few months ago, this would have been the #1, but honestly, I’m kind of falling out of my obsession. Still a masterpiece. 

Hamilton is about the 17-1800’s, focusing on Alexander Hamilton, Eliza Hamilton, Aarron Burr, and more. It is a mix of comedy, action, and emotional plot. This is also referred to as “Lin-Manuel’s masterpiece.”

Favorite song: That Would Be Enough

 

#4: Six The Musical:

I just listened to all the songs on the album, and it’s actually so good.

Six is based on the 6 ex-wives of King Henrey VIII. They retell the side of the story that we never really hear. Their chorography is also peak.

#5: Trevor The Musical

I watched this many times and I’m trying to convince myself it isn’t good, but the story just makes me cry every time.

Trevor the Musical is about a boy coming to terms with his identity, and trying to live through all of his emotions while also keeping it a secret. When his secret does get spilled, he goes through a…. well let’s say “rough patch,” however it all works out in the end. 

Favorite song: This Is Weird 

#6: The Heathers 

Okay now look, I know it’s super low on the list on some people on here are gonna get me, however, its mostly just because I have never actually watched the musical for it. I’ve listened to the soundtrack though!

I genuinely have no clue what the plot of this is, but I will say that it is primarily based on the three Heathers and Veronica. 

Favorite song: Seventeen

 

#7: The greatest Showman

Okay, okay, this is the last one. Look I really love this musical but it’s at #7 because at my old school we did a TGS halftime show for band, and it was so annoying throwing a flag up to “THIS IS THE GREATEST SHOW,” for months on end.

I think that like everyone has seen this, however for the ones that haven’t, this is a musical following the stories of a man who wants to become rich to help his family but faces many struggles to get there.

steven universe is a show that I personally watched a lot growing up. I can’t really do a review on the show as a whole, but I could do individual episodes. Ever steven universe episode teaches a new lesson and I’m pretty sure that’s why I love it. It teaches you how to be emotionally intelligent whilst also tackling things like self-confidence issues, attachment issues, how to grieve, and diversity. what character do you relate to the most in steven universe?

also sorry for it being kind of out of order. and some events in the story are missing. 

 

 

steven universe the movie starts off with steven running through beach city enjoying life. He feels free from his mother’s actions finally and can now start to heal himself and be “human”. Unfortunately for him as the song ends suddenly garnet gets a vison from the future and its terrifying unexpected something they could never prepare for. A giant drill wins king of the hill against the small mountain and plants itself inside the earth. On top of the drill is spinel a gem that once served as pink diamonds version of a court jester, she played for centuries with pink. unfortunately, pink grew tired of the constant games she became annoyed with happy little spinel. one day as they played in the garden pink told spinel to stay in one spot and wait for her to come back. spinel obeyed happily thinking it was all a game she waited and waited for years until finally seeing steven on her screen welcoming gems. she grew angry and instead of happiness filling her heart anger did and her heart became black she morphed into a shell of her former self and plotted for revenge. spinel made quick work of the diamonds and tried steven, but it didn’t work unfortunately though he didn’t leave unscratched. the weapon she used reverted all gems back to their original selves’ pre-pink diamond. garnet became red ruby and sapphire; pearl reverted back to her base self-awaiting orders from “Greg”, Amathyst reverted back to her kindergarten self-shy and confused. They all became what they were before rose. spinel herself got hit by the rejuvenator and became her base model also. she was happy and excited and got on stevens nerves quite a bit. steven was falling apart the rejuvenator worked in a different way for him. steven and Greg tries Mutiple attempts at putting the gems back together for most of the movie and he succeeds in except with garnet. unfortunately, spinel has to be reverted back to fix the damage caused by the drill. All day spinel tries to help and play with steven but unfortunately get declined at every turn. the rejections forced her to turn back into “maniac” spinel. She leaves to the garden where her and rose once played saddened. steven follows behind her where she tells him her origin story and how rose abandoned her. Steven convinces her to come back because he’s not rose, and things are different, and she agrees. once back she stops the drill but unfortunately see’s steven with the rejuvenator and thinks he’s going to reset her, paranoid she fights him and takes Greg hostage, this forced garnet to remember, and she fused back into herself. Shes beaten by the crystal gems again and retreats to the top of the rejuvenator steven follows and is tries to convince her again causing them to fight more. until spinel realizes she lost her reason to fight after one of stevens speeches. the drill explodes and steven now having his powers restored traps spinel in a bubble to protect her. spinel trust steven after this and gets convinced she must leave earth to atone for the damage she has done. Then the diamonds arrive to try and get steven to stay with them but steven reasons with them and has spinel take his place as she would be of more use to them. thus, leaving spinel with the friends he promised and everything’s alright.

 

this story is peak ngl it sets steven up to have all the emotional outburst he does leading to him discovering more powers in steven universe future.

Hello! and welcome to my blog my name is Kemarrion Galmore and I will be reviewing movies , tv shows and books. since I was young I always adored storytelling no matter what form it was in and now were going to be reviewing the details and meaning of the storytelling.

 

 

toy story introduces us to the main character woody, a cowboy who’s favorite phrase is “there’s a snake in my boot. ” it also introduces a character named buzz lightyear and his comedic one liner is “to infinity and beyond”.  there story entrails a journey of acceptance and growing up. through their Hijinx buzz and lightyear have a complicated relationship; buzz and lightyear both have such big character egos and they clashed for the affection of Andy and the other toys. buzz showed of his magnificent suit and his ability to “fly” and woody sat distraught at how the other toys adored him so much. after that woody tried so many things leading to a series of unfortunate events to maintain his position as Andy’s number 1 toy.

As they make their way through the world facing many hardships and challenges like toy-killing Sid. they learn to eventually understand each other and recognize one another’s strengths. the overall message developed in toy story is the importance of friendship. Woody learns to shared Andy’s affection whilst buzz learns too come to terms with his identity as just a toy. this story reminds us that value lies in not just being the favorite, But in the relationships we created with people and they joy it brings.
