Hey everyone, hope you guys are keeping safe during the coronavirus. I know it can be a hard time and all. Well, today I would like to share some of my favorite poems that I wrote this year. It’s been a big time of growth for me, and I am so thankful for that. So without further ado, let’s get into it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

The Colors of Our Soul<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Grey spills into our throats.<\/span><\/p>\n

We gargle, spitting it out,<\/span><\/p>\n

but the taste prolongs.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s plain salt, moldy bread,<\/span><\/p>\n

to our creaking bones.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Liquid orange is what we dream.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s what we want trickling\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

down the vines of our veins.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s what we want to engulf.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yellow mornings spill into our<\/span><\/p>\n

guts, only occasionally<\/span><\/p>\n

conversing sloppily with grey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Making yellow decay in our lungs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our heart is filled with pink<\/span><\/p>\n

azaleas smelling of sweets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The pink sparkling brightly,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and making sunsets with orange.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Still, grey washes out the colors,<\/span><\/p>\n

it introduces black absence<\/span><\/p>\n

who shakes our bodies into a pool<\/span><\/p>\n

of nothingness.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We want yellow, we want orange, but<\/span><\/p>\n

we have been given black and grey.<\/span><\/p>\n

And so, we will sit, our breaths<\/span><\/p>\n

coming out in small coughs of death.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waiting for the brightness to spill<\/span><\/p>\n

back into our breadbasket.<\/span><\/p>\n

Natural Remedies<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Maple syrup and tea spill<\/span><\/p>\n

down into my esophagus.<\/span><\/p>\n

I give a swallow, but recoil<\/span><\/p>\n

in the disgust of it all.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It makes me think of the brittle<\/span><\/p>\n

bark on the beauty outside of here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps, this was her stripped into<\/span><\/p>\n

a syrupy piece of nothingness.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She\u2019s been laid out for all to see<\/span><\/p>\n

ooey, gooey, taken advantage of.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No one asking if she would be okay<\/span><\/p>\n

after being left completely empty.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I float to the depths of her trunk,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

thanking her for the gifts she has<\/span><\/p>\n

bestowed upon humans like us,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

who just take and take and take.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She smiles down upon me,<\/span><\/p>\n

placing warmth into my body.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wiping away my sorrowful tears,<\/span><\/p>\n

with the unfilled roots of her maple.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I nuzzle up to her wooden bosom,<\/span><\/p>\n

feeling the greatest sense of comfort,<\/span><\/p>\n

but salty water clouds my sight once again,<\/span><\/p>\n

for I know my love will be taken advantage of<\/span><\/p>\n

over and over again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bipolar Disorder: more than a stigma<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Grey liquid seeps from my soul.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pupils dilating to see what\u2019s behind.<\/span><\/p>\n

Never getting any answers, but\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

seeing the damage that has been done.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grasping at the black void of my mind.<\/span><\/p>\n

Searching for answers no one can find.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My body clenching under the weight,<\/span><\/p>\n

getting so tense that I feel nothing but,<\/span><\/p>\n

an endless fiery abyss of rage building.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not being able to build the dam fast enough,<\/span><\/p>\n

Screaming, cursing, ruining relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thinking that this is all I am now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Trapped between the highs and lows that<\/span><\/p>\n

never let up for me to finally breathe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Choking on the fumes of long gone dopamine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wondering who I am underneath all of<\/span><\/p>\n

the waves that I am forced to ride out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Being a prisoner in the body that is me.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Finding out that the negative assumptions<\/span><\/p>\n

the majority have about my \u2018annoying habits\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

are not what defines who I am as a person.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking the steps to find who I am underneath<\/span><\/p>\n

the trauma, the imbalances, and internal hate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally finding joy in the beauty that is me.<\/span><\/p>\n
