I don&#8217;t remember if there was a prompt to it or not, but it went some places. I know I let a couple literaries read it, but I don&#8217;t think everyone did, so I&#8217;ll share it here! I felt like it was perfect, given the special day coming up. Just as a warning, there is a bit of gore (sort of?) and mentions of (technically) murder. Please don&#8217;t take offense to it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #ff6600;\">Without further ado, here is &#8220;Ashes&#8221;!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #ff0000;\">There&#8217;s a plant in the window that makes oxygen for me. I breathe in its creation and breathe out pollutants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #ff0000;\">I watch its leaves flutter in the breeze as sunlight shines through them. The day is quiet as I watch this little plant. I give it water and a bit of fertilizer to help it grow. My little plant is special to me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #ff0000;\">Because my little plant holds a secret.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #ff0000;\">Within its soil, there are bones and ashes. THey came from my ex boyfriend. I cut his finger off and used them to fertilize the soil. Yeah, I don&#8217;t know what happened there either, but you bet two whole dollars that I just shortened that some and entered it for that 50 word horror story contest! Along with another piece, but that won&#8217;t be shared just yet!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Here&#8217;s one fall poem that I also wrote back in September, titled &#8220;The Beast&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">It&#8217;s coming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">It&#8217;s time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\"><span style=\"text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; float: none; background-color: transparent;\">It&#8217;s getting cooler.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The world around me is dying. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\"><span style=\"text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; float: none; background-color: transparent;\">It&#8217;s all so beautiful.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The beast is waking up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Its jaw is unhinged, letting its cool breath wash over the earth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">It&#8217;s quieter &#8211; there&#8217;s hardly any buzzing now. I enjoy the quiet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Fires are starting. Families are gathering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Finally they&#8217;re all together again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The leaves flutter free from the grasp of their prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The golds, reds, and oranges twist and twirl in the wind <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">as the brown ones skitter and dance in the streets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The air is crisp and the beast smiles lazily,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\"> its breath gently blowing as it closes its eyes again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">F<\/span><span style=\"font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">all is here, and it&#8217;s time to celebrate.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wrote a journal entry back in September that I titled &#8220;Ashes&#8221;.
