The theme was &#8220;Under the Red Sky\/dark fantasies&#8221;. All the poets on program and those that signed up were all great. I also read some poems, and I think one of them was equally liked and disliked. For those of you that didn&#8217;t attend Coffeehouse, I&#8217;m including my poems that I read.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The first poem is titled &#8220;Red&#8221;, and I&#8217;m not exactly sure what made me write it. But please do enjoy it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Red<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The sky looks like a pulsing heart, <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">pulled fresh from someone\u2019s chest.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The pink clouds pass slowly, appearing to be forever stuck.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Below the bright red sky, chaos ensues.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Blood spills.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Heads roll.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Death rules.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Humans attack each other on the streets.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Siblings turn against siblings.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Wife against husband.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Father against son.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Homes are ruined, forever stained with red.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The red sky weeps red tears.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The moon gives the world a red tint.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Everything is red.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The ground is soaked with the blood.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The grass is no longer green on the other side &#8211;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">It\u2019s red. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Now, the second piece is titled &#8220;Monster&#8221;. This is piece that probably received mixed reactions from the crowd, but I still enjoy it and find it&#8230; amusing? It&#8217;s up to you to determine. Also, there&#8217;s tad bit of gore involved, so you&#8217;ve been warned!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Monster<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The monster doesn\u2019t live under the bed.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The monster doesn\u2019t live in his basement.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Or in his attic.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Or in his closet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The monster is freely moving.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">He comes and goes.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">He steals the screams of children and adults alike.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">He takes the form of his greatest nightmares,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">and makes it so real, he considers gouging out his own eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">He can\u2019t handle the sight.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The smell.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The sounds.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">His body shakes and trembles.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The monster stalks closer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">\u201cYou\u2019ll never escape me, Johnny.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">\u201cYes, Papa.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Blood coats the walls.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Mama\u2019s head is bashed open, her brains become the new carpet.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">The smell of her rotting flesh perfumes the air. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Her life essence drips from the head of the hammer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">\u201cShe tried to escape, Papa.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">\u201cGood, Johnny. You\u2019re learning.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Johnny was the monster.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">Papa was the monster.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">And they\u2019ll make you into a monster too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600; font-family: book antiqua,palatino,serif;\">That &#8220;Johnny.. Yes Papa&#8221; thing was a complete coincidence. I&#8217;ve never actually watched those videos, but those were the names that I picked while typing.
