\u00a0Once upon a time the world glitched. Then stripped static people counted on numbers to be heard. A hundred million people stayed that way and people died that way. Puncturing holes in eye sockets to fit the big screens. Headlight hairs pointed towards the crowd-s morbid curiosity. They all blinked in unison.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have always feared the dark<\/span><\/p>\n

In the dark a hand is not a hand <\/span><\/p>\n

a hand does not belong to you<\/span><\/p>\n

a hand does not exist\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the dark each finger is a stranger<\/span><\/p>\n

they wiggle to poke holes in your skin\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each one betting on who can scar the most<\/span><\/p>\n

each toe a long lost relative<\/span><\/p>\n

They stand at attention and in the dark\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

they rage war on the bed-sheets<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Man didn’t believe in good luck.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He promised me fifty gold coins if i could do a back flip off a cliff\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I lowered the bet to twenty five.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He asked why.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I don’t need fifty when i’m dead”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0he said Yes but why twenty five?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I didn’t want to answer that question <\/span><\/p>\n

so i jumped<\/span><\/p>\n

The food was like heaven on a platter\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The boys and the girls were wonderful\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Munching on the high atmosphere like a last meal\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The soft shatter of windows and the implosions were electrifying<\/span><\/p>\n

my toes wiggled in the confides of my metal shoes\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The seat belt tugged up my neck\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My ears bounced from my head\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was my first time flying.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every rapid touch of parted\u00a0 lips sent cavities to my core\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

my sticky fingers tangled in a mass of curly chocolate hair\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Or teeth smacked bubble gum tongues\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We rolled in the mass of too sweet sweets dripping sugar\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and canes<\/span><\/p>\n

rows of attentive buyers lined the streets\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

eye wide and sapping\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

hands itching-twitching on jumpy legs\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

fingers flying down rough material\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and clutching flimsy paper bags\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bells chimed in time\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

each count ticking down flashing shutters\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

frigid palms gathered old candies\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and bodies bounced around bodies<\/span><\/p>\n

The talk of the town<\/span><\/p>\n

is covered in red<\/span><\/p>\n

and pink dripping sin<\/span><\/p>\n

bouncing a chest<\/span><\/p>\n

The man of the house\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

cross eyed and bushy tailed\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

his hair flops across his eyes<\/span><\/p>\n

frail fingers lace in the bounding locks\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and tussles the disobedience out of wolves\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

we call those women\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
