{"id":3173,"date":"2018-04-12T08:43:16","date_gmt":"2018-04-12T13:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/?p=3173"},"modified":"2018-04-12T08:43:16","modified_gmt":"2018-04-12T13:43:16","slug":"unfinished-poems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/2018\/04\/12\/unfinished-poems\/","title":{"rendered":"Unfinished Poems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Medusa<\/p>\n<p>Woman turned Gorgon<\/p>\n<p>You didn\u2019t deserve what happened to you<\/p>\n<p>Fool for a God in a temple for a night<\/p>\n<p>Snakes upon your hair for the rest of your life<\/p>\n<p>To bed with a bed blissfully<\/p>\n<p>Unaware of you fate<\/p>\n<p>And now angry, and alone, without a mate<\/p>\n<p>Cursed by a Goddess for all of eternity<\/p>\n<p>For no man to love<\/p>\n<p>For no one to see<\/p>\n<p>Turning people to stone<\/p>\n<p>Like your heart<\/p>\n<p>It is dark and bitter<\/p>\n<p>And like your beauty<\/p>\n<p>Won\u2019t you wither<\/p>\n<p>away<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Daddy\u2019s Girl<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If my father were still alive I feel as if i would\u2019ve been a daddy\u2019s girl<br \/>\nBut he\u2019s not, so i\u2019m not<br \/>\nBecause of childish decisions and careless mistakes<br \/>\nI now have no one to make my house stable when it shakes<br \/>\nNo one to take my side when my mom tells me no and no one to show me the ropes<br \/>\nMy mom became my mom and my dad when he died<br \/>\nAnd she had to do it all on her own, keep me alive<br \/>\nHis death made us strong, closer<br \/>\nAnd i\u2019m glad God chose her<br \/>\nOne parent became two and she taught me how to tie my shoes<br \/>\nTo ride a bike<br \/>\nTo drive<br \/>\nAnd daddy didn\u2019t because he couldn\u2019t<br \/>\nAnd that doesn\u2019t bother me anymore<br \/>\nBut i always wondered<br \/>\nWould I really be a daddy\u2019s girl if he were alive<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Searching for yourself in destructive fashions<br \/>\nIn the beds of men you won&#8217;t remember tomorrow<br \/>\nYou don&#8217;t know love, not of self or other<br \/>\nFighting for control within yourself<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;re spineless in a backless dress, too weak to be anything but<br \/>\nHand out, begging<br \/>\nYou need but don&#8217;t know what<br \/>\nGet a grip on reality instead of getting lost in lines of coke<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;re a child begging for forgiveness<br \/>\nNeeding a hand to hold<br \/>\n&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>In your skin, you find comfort<br \/>\nYou find solace, you find beauty, you find intelligence<br \/>\nIn your skin you find&#8230;<br \/>\nInsanity<br \/>\nYou find pity, self -loathing hatred<br \/>\nIn your skin you find love, love of living, love of self<br \/>\nIn your skin you<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<br \/>\nDistressed denim and mind sets make for good back stories<br \/>\nRipped knees and jeans<br \/>\nAll unholy things<br \/>\nI am unstable and distracted<br \/>\nMy mind draws blanks<br \/>\nI can&#8217;t even think straight<br \/>\nExhaustion overpowers me and I can barely stay awake<br \/>\nI want to overachieve but I can&#8217;t believe that I am able to do a lot of things<br \/>\nI am useless<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Medusa Woman turned Gorgon You didn\u2019t deserve what happened to you Fool for a God in a temple for a night Snakes upon your hair for the rest of your life To bed with a bed blissfully Unaware of you fate And now angry, and alone, without a mate Cursed by a Goddess for all &hellip;
