My roommate didn\u2019t and I was very sad. Amelia Bedelia is connotative with gullibility, upon being left in a house with a list of expressions and idioms she takes them all to be literal: she cuts up the towels when she hears \u201cchange them [out]\u201d, ruins their furniture and the only reason she doesn\u2019t get fired that day is she makes a delicious lemon meringue pie. I tried not to sound mocking because I truly do love this book, Amelia Bedelia is so witty and goofy.<\/p>\n<p>And then of course came what I\u2019d call \u201choliday specials\u201d e.g. Merry Christmas, Amelia Bedelia; Amelia Bedelia Goes Camping, etc. etc. It\u2019s just a trend of the medium, you\u2019ve noticed, once people love \u201cIf You Give a Mouse a Cookie\u201d they\u2019ll love \u201cIf You Give a Pig a Pancake\u201d but what I find interesting is Amelia Bedelia didn\u2019t just get picture books she also got chapter books.<\/p>\n<p>An entire franchise of them!<\/p>\n<p>These were published <i>decades <\/i>after the original book was released\u2014like the Amelia Bedelia books were being published in the 60s, the one I had as a kid was written in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I love this artstyle, look at her little outfit<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19554\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Amelia-Bedelia_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"673\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Amelia-Bedelia_2.jpg 673w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Amelia-Bedelia_2-202x300.jpg 202w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(side note I was looking up more books for this blog and let me just say: Harry Potter is NOT a picture book.)<\/p>\n<h3>KNUFFLE BUNNY: A CAUTIONARY TALE<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19555\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Knuffle-Bunny.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"662\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Knuffle-Bunny.jpg 363w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Knuffle-Bunny-300x226.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This one is for ME, okay? and it\u2019s the only non-serialized one on this list. This little girl leaves her stuffed animal at the laundromat and she can\u2019t talk yet so all she can do is babble the words closest to the sounds \u201cKnuffle Bunny.\u201d \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s based on the writer\u2019s real life family and did you know this was written by the guy who\u2019s also written, \u201cDon\u2019t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus?\u201d I\u2019m so upset no one remembers Knuffle Bunny. Let\u2019s move on.<\/p>\n<h3>IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19556\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/If-You-Give-a-Mouse-a-Cookie.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"592\" height=\"664\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/If-You-Give-a-Mouse-a-Cookie.jpg 892w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/If-You-Give-a-Mouse-a-Cookie-268x300.jpg 268w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/If-You-Give-a-Mouse-a-Cookie-768x861.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 592px) 85vw, 592px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What I brought it up and you expected me not to use it? Yeah, you\u2019ve read it I bet. I believe it FAR greater than either of the other ones on this list but have you actually gone back? Because wow, it is cozy. Coziest book alive, as a seven year old shares some food with a mouse who trashes his house (but the book doesn\u2019t rhyme?) Akin to most things on this list, there were obviously more books after it and you know what, I\u2019ll go back on my word. Despite how like. Honestly sweet the original is, I remember the variations more fondly.<\/p>\n<p>If You Give a Cat a Cupcake? Do you remember read-alouds? Those went crazy. This cat went along with everything, his shoes are white, now they\u2019re red, what does he say?<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cI love my red shoes,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I love my red shoes,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>I love my red shoes.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Never bothered, never sad, just the coolest cat around. 10\/10 Cat I don\u2019t remember much of him but he took down the house in a single picture book.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 hey you know those \u201cI am [historical figure]\u201d books?
