Hiiii<\/span>, <\/span>it is<\/span> blog time!!<\/span> We are<\/span> going to<\/span> be talking about my dream career today, and <\/span>it is<\/span> not <\/span>an<\/span> average career so it may be a little unconventional<\/span>.<\/span> However,<\/span> I\u2019m really excited to talk about it, because it\u2019s really all I\u2019ve been thinking about lately, so<\/span> I need to get it off my mind.<\/span> Okay so first <\/span>off,<\/span> I will be going into some form of engineering.<\/span> I was tuned into computer science for a <\/span>while,<\/span> and <\/span>I have<\/span> been teaching myself how to code and <\/span>it is<\/span> going really <\/span>good<\/span>.<\/span> I have<\/span> been learning python and swift but those are <\/span>really easy<\/span> in the coding world, however <\/span>JavaScript<\/span>, <\/span>C, <\/span>C++<\/span>, HTML, and SQL are where it gets tricky and it is so specific that if you are <\/span>missing<\/span> a comma or parentheses your entire code <\/span>will not<\/span> work whether it is a game, website, or whatever. <\/span>It is<\/span> fun<\/span> to learn at my own pace and a good skill to have but <\/span>it is not the major for me I <\/span>do not<\/span> think.<\/span> So,<\/span> my next choice is engineering, specifically mechanical or electrical<\/span>. I have a huge interest in cars so if I want that I will do mechanical but if not electrical. Mechanical is <\/span>broader<\/span> so it is the basis of all its other engineering counterparts.<\/span> It focuses on things that move and <\/span>do not<\/span> move. Some type of engineer has designed or manufactured <\/span>essentially everything<\/span> around you.<\/span> It<\/span> is based on physics, mathematics, and material science. <\/span>I can go into so many fields<\/span> such as automotive,<\/span> aerospace, biomedical, construction manufacturing and so much more, but I would choose the automotive industry with a focus on<\/span> visual and functional<\/span> design<\/span>, which determines how the car looks and making it easy to repair,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>or <\/span>internal and external testing to ensure maximum performance and safety of the vehicles being produced.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

On the other <\/span>hand,<\/span> if I did <\/span>electrical, I would be more focused on<\/span> electricity and electronics from microscopic computer components to large power networks<\/span>.<\/span> With this degree I can go into automation and robotics, advanced driver <\/span>assistance<\/span> systems, aerospace and defense systems, <\/span>or computer engineering. With this degree I would prefer to still work <\/span>with cars, but <\/span>infotainment<\/span> systems, controls, and circuitr<\/span>y. Either way I prefer to work with cars, but I have <\/span>a wide variety<\/span> of opportunities with either one of these. <\/span>Also,<\/span> electrical engineering <\/span>is based<\/span>\u00a0on mathematics, physics, and telecommunications.<\/span> Now <\/span>let\u2019s<\/span> get into credit hours, classes, base salaries, and how my life would be set up with each. I applied to multiple tech schools like Washington State, MIT, Stan<\/span>ford, Michigan, all the Ivies except Dartmouth, Duke, etc. <\/span>The range is 120-130 credit hours for a degree, but the classes differ immensely. Mechanical has classes such as<\/span> Engineering Graphics, Calculus 1, 2,<\/span> &3, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, <\/span>University Physics<\/span>, and so on so on. Then electrical has Modern Convex Optimization, <\/span>CAD Design of Digital VLSI, Speech Technology, Advanced Optical a<\/span>nd Optoelectronic Instruments and Devices. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"By just the titles of the classes <\/span>I am<\/span> sure you can see the <\/span>difference,<\/span> but they are both<\/span> heavily<\/span> influenced by <\/span>math<\/span> and physics and they both use CAD, which is Computer Aided Design. <\/span>Now the salaries because I know this is what <\/span>we\u2019ve<\/span> been waiting for<\/span>. The average salary for a mechanical engineer in the auto industry is 100k give or take about 5k or so. Starting salaries are <\/span>more around<\/span> 75 to 80k right out of college but still great, nonetheless. <\/span>Meanwhile electrical engineers<\/span> in the auto industry make 80k starting salary but around 93k in other industries starting salar<\/span>y, but the average is about 120k. Most employers also give health insurance, a good amount of PTO, options to work remote, in office, or hybrid, and they also have travel c<\/span>ontracts where you can work within the company at different offices around the us and <\/span>maybe the<\/span> world depending on how big the company is. <\/span>The money is definitely an <\/span>incentive,<\/span> but I love understanding how things work<\/span> and why,<\/span> especially cars, and if I can <\/span>fiddle around with them fixing problems all day big or <\/span>small,<\/span> I would definitely love it<\/span>.<\/span> I know most people dread <\/span>college<\/span> but I am actually really excited to go.
