\u00a0 Then read this post and see the nightmares that I have uncovered.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When I was younger my teachers used to ask, \u201cDo you have a phobia?\u201d \u00a0 I used to always say \u201cYes of course!\u00a0 I\u2019m scared of spiders,\u201d but never thought about if that was actually a phobia.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I mean, I am scared of spiders and snakes a little bit, but not so much because I can kill them.\u00a0 Then I start thinking to myself, is that really a phobia? \u00a0 Well, what is a phobia exactly?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dictionary says: Phobia &#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pho\u00b7bi\u00b7a<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[\u02c8f\u014db\u0113\u0259]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>NOUN<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;He\u00a0had a phobia about being under water&#8221; \u00b7 &#8220;a phobia of germs&#8221; \u00b7 &#8220;a snake phobia.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you go by the definition a phobia isn\u2019t something you&#8217;re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">scared <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of, it&#8217;s something\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you\u2019re terrified<i> <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of.\u00a0 It\u2019s a fear that doesn\u2019t even allow you to think straight.\u00a0 \u00a0With that, I\u2019m going to discuss a couple of Phobias that interest me, and I decided to research them because I wanted to learn some of the reasons why people fear certain things.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) Agoraphobia: Fear of Open Space or Crowds\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-17791\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GettyImages-502088187-58d1633d5f9b581d7277c53c-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"353\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GettyImages-502088187-58d1633d5f9b581d7277c53c-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GettyImages-502088187-58d1633d5f9b581d7277c53c-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GettyImages-502088187-58d1633d5f9b581d7277c53c-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GettyImages-502088187-58d1633d5f9b581d7277c53c-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GettyImages-502088187-58d1633d5f9b581d7277c53c-2048x1367.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GettyImages-502088187-58d1633d5f9b581d7277c53c-1200x801.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 353px) 85vw, 353px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agoraphobia, I can see why this is a thing.\u00a0 Sometimes places that are filled with tons of people can be pretty overwhelming. \u00a0 I mean think of the types of scenarios.\u00a0 There could be killer clowns hidden amongst all of those faces, but you wouldn\u2019t know because there are too many people.\u00a0 Also, I know someone who hates places where there are a lot of entries for bad people to get through and it\u2019s easy for them to get mixed in the crowd.\u00a0 Babies can have a minor fear of a lot of people because they can get easily lost among the crowd and don\u2019t know how to go through all of the bodies of people. So, for this to be an extreme fear is understandable.\u00a0 When researching why this is a common fear in society the causes of it come from anxiety of public places and environmental experiences of panic attacks. \u00a0 Symptoms can be identified as shallow breathing, sweaty palms, and panic attacks.\u00a0 This fear is real and affects a great amount of civilization, this interested me because a lot of people have it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2) Genuphobia: Fear of Knees<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-17792\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/R-300x205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"373\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/R-300x205.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/R-1024x699.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/R-768x524.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.msabrookhaven.org\/literary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/R.jpg 1152w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 373px) 85vw, 373px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Genuphobia, all I have to say is, who is out here scared of knees?\u00a0 I\u2019m not making fun of it; this is most likely genuine which is why I&#8217;m interested in the reasons for it.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When thinking about it, someone has to be going through it by looking at their knees and being frightened by them. \u00a0 For people who have knees (because some people are unfortunate to not have any legs) use them every day to walk, play soccer, do squats, jump rope, etc. and will most likely struggle without knees.\u00a0 This is why I researched and read some articles for the background of this fear. \u00a0 An article I found by Lisa Fritscher states \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some people are afraid only of seeing uncovered knees in person, while others are afraid of bare knees even on film. People with this phobia may be afraid of all knees or only their own. Some people are actually scared of kneeling.\u201d\u00a0 Which to me is strange but it is rare; so, someone out there must have their reason. The same article says a main cause is personal trauma, someone could have been hurt in an accident where they almost lost their knees or saw someone else, they were close to lose their knees. \u00a0 Another cause could be traced from highly religious or cultural upbringings.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing wrong with that, once you tell me it\u2019s because of your beliefs I fully understand, you do you.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The people with this phobia cope by averting their eyes away from people or their knees.\u00a0 People who have it more severe are recommended to a therapist to get better treatment to cope.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-17793\" 400;\">I\u2019m not even going to repeat this one, it\u2019s way too long to type out.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The fear of words with too many unnecessary letters is a rare fear in society.\u00a0 There could be many reasons for why someone would adapt this fear that might sound like a good reason to some but if it doesn\u2019t, as long as it doesn\u2019t bother you, we shouldn\u2019t make fun of the people who are frightened of words like\u00a0 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many sides to having this fear.\u00a0 People just don\u2019t have to be scared of the word itself, they can be scared of how many syllables the word has, some might be scared of the word because they never saw it or discovered it. \u00a0 In other actions a person may be scared of words that are longer in length and look squished together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In my view, these words are intimidating and too clunky.\u00a0 The letters just kind of blend together and look like you fell asleep on your keyboard.\u00a0 It seems like someone just typed gibberish.\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I mean if someone asks me to read this word aloud for them, I\u2019m going to run away screaming.\u00a0 Especially if I\u2019m put on spot.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Some things you might do with having this fear is avoid reading books, lack on English bases Academics and avoid talking with new words you don\u2019t understand or want to understand.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Symptoms of it may include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abdominal pain<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chest Pain\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nausea\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dizziness\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lightheadedness<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which will likely occur in front of these words.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Treatment for it could be going to therapy. \u00a0 Taking anxiety medication, SSRIs for example and getting Psychotherapy treatment.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While researching this I found that there were other factors that caused the development of this fear.\u00a0 One of those causes being behavioral inhibition, some might have that being anger issues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can read more about right here: <\/span><a cope with things that may be strange or weird to me or you, daily.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s best to remember to respect people who have certain fears different from ours and to have their backs about it.\u00a0 Also, if you don\u2019t mind, comment on any of your fears.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good day
