I feel like this post is relevant because of our literary unit being playwriting, and I thought it might be a good idea to share some thoughts and feelings about this. Maybe you can relate, maybe not but simply just wanted to share how I feel about this. Nothing negative or anything like, “Oh, my God, I absolutely hate playwriting!” It’s nothing like that. This is simply me venting and being honest with y’all and myself.<\/p>\n
For one, I never thought of myself as a playwright. I didn’t think it would be something I would end up doing or be good at. Now, I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’m good at it mostly because I’ve only ever wrote two ten-minute plays. Though, I feel like I may be getting better at it. But is it something that I intend to keep pursuing? Maybe for a little while just to see if it kinda grows on me and if I eventually get really good at it, but in the long run, no. I do want to pursue writing in my career, but as a novelist or something like that. I might touch more on what I want to do after college later.<\/p>\n
Another thing with writing a play for me is coming up with an idea that would be suitable for a play is difficult. Like I said, I’d prefer to write a whole book and most of my writing ideas would require to be prolonged and they wouldn’t really fit as a play. It took me until the last couple of days on the latest playwriting assignment to stick with an idea and condense to ten minutes. Could it also be a longer story? Absolutely, that is something I’ll consider doing later. Bottom line is that what I come up with may very well be good as a short story or book but not so much as a play.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anyways, the whole point of making this post was simply to share that I don’t necessarily see myself becoming a full-on playwright, but perhaps it will begin to grow on my later. I hope that if this is something I choose to continue on my own time that I’ll be able to come up with unique ideas suitable to portray onto a stage.<\/p>\n
